MB Sturgis 350 PSI Rated UL569 / ANSI Z21-81 Certified POL x 1/4 In Male NPT Propane Pigtail Hose -- 144 Inches

The MB Sturgis 06-1369 is a 12-foot thermoplastic propane pigtail hose designed to connect individual LP cylinders to a dual-cylinder two-stage regulator system. The POL (Prest-O-Lite) tank connection delivers higher flow capacity than a standard Type 1 (QCC1) fitting -- a critical advantage when high-demand RV appliances cause bypass or starvation issues on a busy system.

High-Flow LP Pigtail for Dual-Cylinder RV Propane Systems

When your RV is running a furnace, water heater, refrigerator, and cooktop simultaneously, a standard Type 1 QCC connector can become the bottleneck. The POL fitting used on this hose opens the flow path wider, supporting up to 500,000 BTU per hour -- enough headroom for virtually any combination of RV appliances drawing from a typical 20 lb or 30 lb cylinder.

At 144 inches (12 feet), this pigtail gives you flexible routing from ground-level cylinders up to a wall-mounted regulator without kinking or straining the connection points. The thermoplastic hose body is rated from -40F to 140F, handling everything from winter camping to summer desert heat.

POL Tank Connection

Left-hand threaded POL (Prest-O-Lite) fitting with excess flow protection. Connects directly to standard LP cylinders with POL valves.

500,000 BTU/Hr Capacity

Engineered for high-demand RV setups. Supports simultaneous operation of multiple LP appliances without regulator bypass problems.

350 PSI Pressure Rating

Maximum working pressure of 350 PSI -- well above typical LP service pressure -- for a substantial safety margin in residential and RV propane use.

Wide Temperature Range

Rated -40F to 140F (-40C to 60C). Flexible and reliable in cold-weather camping conditions where standard hoses can stiffen and crack.

Why POL Instead of Type 1 (QCC1)?

Type 1 (QCC1) fittings are the most common on modern RV propane systems and include an internal excess flow check valve. However, that check valve restricts maximum flow. On high-demand systems -- especially dual-appliance or large-capacity setups -- that restriction can cause the regulator to "bypass," where the second-stage regulator mistakenly detects excess flow and reduces output pressure.

Switching to a POL connection eliminates the Type 1 flow restriction. The POL fitting on this hose still includes an excess flow device to help limit flow during hose failure, but it is designed to pass the higher volume needed for demanding RV applications.

Best Use Case: This pigtail is ideal as one or both legs of a dual-cylinder two-stage regulator setup (such as the MB Sturgis or Camco auto-changeover style) when total BTU demand from RV appliances exceeds what a Type 1 fitting can reliably supply.

Hose Construction and Certification

The hose body is 1/4-inch ID thermoplastic -- flexible, kink-resistant, and compatible with LP gas (propane). The outlet end terminates in a 1/4-inch Male Inverted Flare fitting, which mates with the standard inlet port found on most two-stage RV propane regulators.

  • Hose type: 1/4 in ID thermoplastic LP gas hose assembly
  • Inlet: POL (Prest-O-Lite) left-hand thread with excess flow device
  • Outlet: 1/4 in Male Inverted Flare
  • Length: 144 inches (12 feet)
  • Certifications: UL569 and ANSI Z21-81 -- LP gas service
  • Weight: 0.7 lbs.
Regulator Compatibility: The 1/4 in Male Inverted Flare outlet is the standard inlet connection on most dual-stage LP regulators used in RV applications. Verify your regulator inlet is 1/4 in Female Inverted Flare (or includes an appropriate adapter) before ordering.

Installation Notes

Install this pigtail between each LP cylinder valve and the inlet(s) of your two-stage or auto-changeover regulator. Hand-tighten the POL fitting onto the cylinder valve first, then use a wrench to snug (do not overtighten -- POL threads are brass and can be damaged). Leak-test every connection with approved LP gas leak detector solution before lighting any appliance.

Maintenance Tip: Inspect the thermoplastic hose body annually for cracks, abrasion, or UV degradation. Replace any hose showing visible damage, kinking, or a persistent odor of propane at the connections. The recommended service life for LP hose assemblies is typically 10 years from the date of manufacture; check the hose date stamp.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • Not RVIA compliant: This hose assembly does not comply with RVIA (Recreational Vehicle Industry Association) code. It is intended for use in propane systems where higher flow is required and the installer accepts responsibility for code compliance.
  • No back-check valve: Unlike some pigtail assemblies, this POL connection does not include a back-check valve. If the dual-cylinder system is operated incorrectly, or if a hose failure occurs, gas may not be fully contained at the cylinder valve. Always close cylinder valves when the system is not in use.
  • Excess flow device present: The POL fitting includes an excess flow device designed to restrict flow during catastrophic hose failure, but this is not a substitute for proper installation and regular inspection.
  • LP gas only: This hose is rated for propane (LP gas) service only. Do not use with natural gas, oxygen, or any other fuel or gas.
  • Leak test required: After every installation or reconnection, test all fittings with an approved LP gas leak detector solution. Never use an open flame to check for leaks.
  • Professional installation recommended: Propane system modifications should be performed by or inspected by a qualified LP gas technician, especially in systems that do not follow RVIA guidelines.
