The Koni 8805-1020 FSD Front Shock is the front companion to the 8805-1022 rear — together forming the complete KONI FSD suspension upgrade for the Freightliner XC-platform diesel pusher. This shock is specifically engineered for Freightliner XC-family chassis equipped with air ride suspension and the traditional rigid I-beam front axle — the configuration that defined the premium diesel pusher segment from 1993 through the early 2020s.
The Freightliner I-beam front axle, while exceptionally durable, relies entirely on the front shock absorbers for steering stability and front-end composure. Worn front shocks on these chassis produce the notorious "front-end wander" — the continuous micro-corrections a driver must make at highway speeds, the wind sensitivity that demands constant attention, and the steering vagueness that makes even straight-line driving fatiguing. KONI's FSD technology eliminates these issues while preserving the ride quality that defines a premium diesel pusher experience.

This shock has three specific exclusions that must be verified before ordering: 1. IFS (Independent Front Suspension) — NOT Compatible: This shock is for rigid I-beam front axle only. Freightliner XC-family chassis equipped with independent front suspension require a different shock. 2. Spring Suspension — NOT Compatible: Air ride suspension only. Does not fit chassis with coil or leaf spring front suspension configurations. 3. 2023+ VFS (Hendrickson VTEK NXT) I-Beam Front Axle — NOT Compatible: Freightliner introduced the new VFS I-beam front axle beginning in 2023. This shock does not fit the new VFS axle geometry even though it is also a rigid I-beam design. Owners of 2023+ Freightliner XC-family chassis must verify their front axle type before ordering.
⚠️ Before Installation — Critical Stroke Check: With the vehicle at proper ride height, measure the distance between the shock mounting points. Then collapse and extend the new shock fully and measure both extremes. The shock should be near the center of its stroke when installed, with at least 3" of stroke available in either direction. If this clearance is not met, do not install — the shock could break and the warranty will be voided.
FSD Shocks Are Self-Adjusting: Gold-colored KONI FSD shocks automatically adjust their damping — no manual adjustment is needed or possible.
