The head assembly is the mechanical link between the inner slide-out arm and the roombar -- the horizontal tube that actually pushes and pulls the slide room. When this component wears, cracks, or loses its adjustment, the slide room can travel at the wrong angle, bind mid-travel, or fail to seat flush against the coach wall. Replacing the head assembly is often the correct fix before resorting to full arm replacement.
The 1-3/4" drop dimension refers to the vertical offset built into the head: the roombar attachment point sits 1-3/4" lower than the inner arm attachment point. This offset is engineered to match the specific geometry of certain Lippert through frame slide systems. Using the wrong drop dimension causes misalignment and accelerated wear on seals, guides, and the motor drive.

In a Lippert electric through frame slide-out, the inner arm tubes pass through openings in the RV frame rails. A motor-driven gearbox extends and retracts the arms. The head assembly at the end of each inner arm grips the roombar and transfers that linear motion to the slide room. Correct drop height ensures the room travels parallel to the floor and seats squarely against the body seal. If your rig uses a rack-and-pinion or cable-driven slide system, this part does not apply.
Lippert through frame slide systems use multiple head assembly drop heights -- commonly 1-3/4", 2", and others -- depending on the coach model, room size, and frame geometry. Measure the drop on your existing head assembly or reference your coach build sheet / Lippert service records before ordering. Installing a head with the wrong drop will result in misalignment and may damage seals and the roombar.
