GE Appliances 13,500 BTU Heat Pump R32 Refrigerant

GE GRHS13XHHW -- Cool in Summer, Heat in Winter, Save Propane Year-Round

The GE GRHS13XHHW delivers 13,500 BTU of rooftop cooling plus true electric heat pump performance down to 25 deg F -- without burning propane. Built with eco-friendly R32 refrigerant, corrosion-resistant coatings, and noise-reducing components, this unit is engineered for full-timers and seasonal campers who want reliable, efficient climate control from a single rooftop unit.

One Rooftop Unit That Heats and Cools

Most RV air conditioners only cool. The GRHS13XHHW goes further: its integrated heat pump extracts warmth from outside air and delivers it inside, keeping your rig comfortable down to 25 deg F ambient without firing up the furnace. That means fewer propane fills, less generator runtime for heating, and more flexibility for shoulder-season camping.

R32 refrigerant carries 70% lower global warming potential than R410A while delivering strong thermal efficiency -- making this unit a forward-looking choice as refrigerant regulations tighten across North America.

Heat Pump to 25 deg F

Electric heating effective down to 25 deg F ambient -- reduce propane dependency in cool weather

R32 Eco Refrigerant

70% lower GWP than R410A, zero ozone depletion, and better energy efficiency per pound of refrigerant

Corrosion-Resistant Build

Coated coils and housing resist salt air and road chemicals -- suitable for coastal and high-humidity use

Low-Noise Design

Noise-reducing motor mounts and fan blade geometry keep interior sound levels comfortable during sleep

Heat Pump Advantage for RV Owners

  • Heats electrically when shore power or a generator is running -- no propane consumed
  • Effective heat pump range: 25 deg F to 115 deg F ambient
  • Supplemental propane furnace can still be used below 25 deg F if equipped
  • Reduces furnace cycling, which extends furnace service intervals

R32 Refrigerant -- What You Need to Know

R32 is a single-component (A2L mildly flammable) refrigerant. Service must be performed by a certified HVAC technician with R32-rated equipment. Do not attempt to top off or recharge with R410A -- the systems are not interchangeable. R32 cylinders and recovery equipment are widely available through HVAC wholesale suppliers.

Upgrade Kit Required for Most Installs

The GRHS13XHHW is a rooftop condenser/evaporator unit. Most installations require a compatible ceiling assembly (air distribution box) already installed in the RV, or a separately purchased upgrade kit. Verify that your existing ceiling assembly is compatible before ordering. If you are replacing a GE ARH15AACW or similar GE rooftop unit, confirm the ceiling assembly model before assuming drop-in fit.

Replaces / Compatible With

  • Designed as a replacement/upgrade for GE ARH15AACW and select GE RV AC rooftop units
  • Standard 14-inch x 14-inch roof opening (industry-standard RV cutout)
  • Verify ceiling assembly compatibility before installation
  • Not a drop-in replacement for Dometic, Coleman-Mach, or other brand ceiling assemblies without an adapter kit

Corrosion and Durability Features

  • Coated evaporator and condenser coils resist oxidation from salt air, moisture, and road chemicals
  • UV-stabilized white polycarbonate/ABS shroud resists fading and cracking
  • Sealed motor bearings minimize maintenance requirements
  • Designed for the vibration and shock environment of towed/motorized RV use

Important Information -- Read Before Ordering

  • Upgrade kit / ceiling assembly is NOT included and is required for most installations. Confirm compatibility of your existing ceiling assembly before purchasing.
  • R32 is an A2L mildly flammable refrigerant. Any service involving the refrigerant circuit must be performed by a certified technician using R32-rated recovery and charging equipment. Do not service with R410A equipment or refrigerant.
  • Heat pump operation is effective only at or above 25 deg F ambient. Below that threshold, a separate propane or electric furnace is required for heat.
  • Starting amperage is high (approx. 35-40 A). A soft-start module (such as a MicroAir EasyStart or similar) is strongly recommended when running on a generator under 3,000 W.
  • Not a universal drop-in replacement for non-GE brand ceiling assemblies without a proper adapter kit. Verify fitment before installation.
  • Roof structure must support the unit weight (approx. 75-80 lb). Inspect roof decking and framing before installation, especially on older or repaired RV roofs.
  • This listing is for the rooftop unit only. Thermostat/controller compatibility depends on the ceiling assembly and control wiring in your RV.
