B&W Hitches Class IV Rated 3 Ball Sizes in 1 Unit B&W Hitches TS10048BB Tri-Ball Mount -- Three Balls, One Mount, Zero Swapping

If you tow more than one trailer -- a boat one weekend, a livestock trailer the next, a camper the weekend after that -- you know the frustration of hunting for the right hitch ball or carrying a toolbox just to swap balls at the trailhead. The B&W TS10048BB Tri-Ball Mount puts a 2", 1-7/8", and 2-5/16" ball on a single rotating mount that drops into any standard 2" Class III or Class IV receiver. Flip to the ball you need, pin it in, and go. No sockets, no torque wrenches, no skinned knuckles.

One Mount, Every Ball Size You Actually Use

The three ball sizes on the TS10048BB cover the overwhelming majority of trailers on the road. The 1-7/8" ball handles lighter utility and boat trailers. The 2" ball is the most common size for mid-size travel trailers, cargo trailers, and horse trailers. The 2-5/16" ball is the heavy-duty standard for fifth-wheel goose-neck adapters, large travel trailers, and heavier livestock trailers. B&W machined all three onto a single forged ball mount head that rotates so the correct ball faces down and locks into position.

B&W Hitches has built its reputation on precision-machined towing hardware made in Humboldt, Kansas. The Tri-Ball Mount line is one of their most popular product families because it solves a real problem without adding complexity. The TS10048BB is the black powder-coated version ("BB" suffix) of the standard TS10048 unit, giving it better corrosion resistance and a cleaner appearance under the rear of the truck.

Three Balls, One Insert

2", 1-7/8", and 2-5/16" balls are permanently mounted -- rotate to the size you need and lock it in. No loose balls rattling around in the truck bed.

Black Powder Coat Finish

The "BB" designation means the entire mount is finished in a durable black powder coat -- more corrosion resistant than bare steel and cleaner looking than chrome in a working-truck environment.

Fits Standard 2" Receivers

Shank fits Class III and Class IV 2" receiver tubes. Works with B&W's own receiver hitches and virtually any other brand of 2" receiver on the market.

Made in the USA

B&W Hitches manufactures in Humboldt, Kansas. The Tri-Ball mount is forged and machined domestically to meet their internal load rating standards.

Who This Mount Is For

The TS10048BB is ideal for anyone who regularly switches between trailers with different coupler sizes. Common users include:

  • RV owners who also tow a boat or utility trailer on the same truck
  • Farmers and ranchers moving between a livestock trailer, grain trailer, and implement trailer
  • Contractors who tow a heavy equipment trailer (2-5/16") and a lighter utility trailer (1-7/8") on the same rig
  • Full-timers who also pull a toad dolly or car hauler with a different coupler than their fifth-wheel adapter
No More Ball Swapping at the Hitch: Each ball on the Tri-Ball mount is permanently attached to the rotating head. You never have to remove a ball, find a socket, or re-torque anything in a parking lot again. Rotate the head so the correct ball points down, insert the shank into the receiver, and drop in your hitch pin.

Drop Height and Receiver Fit

The TS10048BB shank is designed for a standard 2" receiver tube opening. The mount provides a fixed drop -- measured from the receiver tube centerline to the top of the active hitch ball -- that suits most full-size truck and SUV applications where the receiver sits higher than the trailer coupler. If your setup requires significant rise or an extreme drop, verify the ball height against your trailer coupler height before purchasing, as this is a fixed-drop unit rather than an adjustable ball mount.

Ball Height Note: Because the three balls are different sizes, the effective height from the ground to the coupler contact point varies slightly between the 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" balls (larger balls sit taller). For most towing setups this difference is negligible, but if you are towing near your tongue weight limit, confirm coupler height on both the heaviest and lightest trailers in your rotation.

Installation Overview

Installation requires no special tools beyond what you already use to insert a standard ball mount:

  • Slide the TS10048BB shank into the 2" receiver tube
  • Rotate the ball head to position the correct ball facing downward
  • Insert a 5/8" hitch pin (or receiver lock pin) through the receiver and shank cross-hole
  • Secure with a clip, cotter pin, or locking pin -- the receiver cross-hole is a standard 5/8" diameter

No drilling, no torquing of individual balls, no adapter hardware needed. The mount weighs 31.25 lbs, so it is heavier than a single-ball mount -- that weight is the forged steel doing its job.

Maintenance Tips:
  • Apply a light coat of bearing grease to the rotating head mechanism periodically, especially if stored outdoors or used in wet or muddy conditions.
  • Inspect the locking detent or pin mechanism that holds the selected ball in the down position before each tow -- confirm it is fully engaged.
  • The black powder coat can chip at contact points. Touch up with cold galvanizing compound or black rust-inhibiting paint if bare metal is exposed.
  • Remove the mount and store it inside when the truck is not towing to extend the finish life.
Verify Gross Trailer Weight and Tongue Weight Before Towing: Even though the mount accepts multiple ball sizes, the load rating of the weakest link in your hitch system -- receiver rating, ball rating, or trailer coupler rating -- determines your actual towing capacity. Do not exceed the lowest rated component in the chain.

Important Information -- Read Before Towing
  • Always confirm the correct ball is fully locked in the downward (active) position before coupling a trailer. A partially rotated head can allow the coupler to separate from the ball while towing.
  • Do not exceed the gross trailer weight (GTW) or tongue weight (TW) rating of the vehicle's receiver hitch, the frame hitch itself, or the trailer's coupler -- whichever is lowest. The mount's capacity does not override a lower-rated component upstream or downstream.
  • This unit is designed for a standard 2" receiver tube. Do not attempt to use it in a 1-1/4" receiver with an adapter -- the combined weight of the mount plus trailer tongue load creates unsafe stress on undersized adapters.
  • The hitch pin (5/8") is NOT included. Always use an appropriately rated hitch pin or locking hitch pin and secure it before every tow.
  • Inspect the rotating head detent mechanism before each use. Do not tow if the locking mechanism is damaged, worn, or fails to positively hold the selected ball in position.
  • At 31.25 lbs, handle this mount carefully during installation and removal to avoid back strain or dropping on feet or vehicle components.
