B&W Hitches Tri-Ball Mount Chrome Steel B&W Hitches TS10048C Tri-Ball Hitch Mount -- Three Balls, One Shank, Zero Fumbling

Stop carrying a box of loose trailer balls and wrenches. The B&W TS10048C Tri-Ball mounts a 2-inch, a 1-7/8-inch, and a second 2-inch chrome-plated ball permanently on a single forged shank that drops straight into your 2-inch receiver. Rotate to the ball you need, pin it, and go -- whether you are hitching a fifth-wheel gooseneck adapter, a conventional travel trailer, a boat, or a utility trailer.

One Mount for Every Trailer You Own

Most RV owners and truck drivers tow more than one trailer across a season -- a travel trailer on weekends, a boat or utility hauler mid-week, maybe a car hauler for a rally. Each of those trailers wants a different ball size. The TS10048C eliminates the guesswork by keeping a 1-7/8-inch ball and two 2-inch balls permanently mounted and ready to use. No rummaging, no torque wrench required in the field.

B&W built this mount out of heavy-gauge steel with a chrome finish that resists rust and road grime. The forged shank fits a standard 2-inch receiver hitch channel and secures with a standard hitch pin and clip -- the same pin you already use.

Three Balls Always Ready

One 1-7/8" and two 2" chrome balls mounted permanently -- no swapping hardware at the trailhead.

Fits 2-Inch Receivers

Standard 2" x 2" receiver channel fitment. Secures with a 5/8-inch hitch pin (standard pin size).

Chrome Steel Construction

Heavy-gauge steel with chrome plating resists corrosion from weather, road salt, and trailer grease.

Compact Stored Dimensions

12.5" x 11.0" x 8.63" -- fits behind a truck seat or in a toolbox when not in the receiver.

Which Trailers Does Each Ball Size Cover?

Understanding which coupler mates to which ball keeps you legal and safe:

  • 1-7/8" ball: Common on lighter trailers up to roughly 2,000 lbs gross trailer weight -- small utility trailers, jet ski trailers, older boat trailers, and some older travel trailers built before the mid-1990s.
  • 2" ball (standard): The most common ball size in North America today. Used on travel trailers, fifth-wheel gooseneck adapter rings, horse trailers, boat trailers, and cargo trailers rated up to 6,000+ lbs GTW depending on the ball's individual rating.
  • Second 2" ball: Having a second 2" position means this mount can serve as a spare or allow accessory mounting -- some users pair a weight-distribution head coupler on one 2" position and a conventional ball coupler on the other.
RV and Full-Timer Use Case: If you tow a travel trailer as your primary rig but also pull a dinghy trailer, car dolly, or utility trailer, the TS10048C lets you keep one mount in your receiver year-round. Rotate to the correct ball before each hookup -- no tools, no lost hardware.

Installation and Setup

Installation is receiver-and-pin simple:

  • Slide the TS10048C shank fully into your truck or SUV's 2-inch receiver opening.
  • Insert a 5/8-inch hitch pin through the receiver and shank alignment holes.
  • Rotate the head so the correct ball faces up and into the coupler path.
  • Secure the hitch pin with the included clip or your own locking hitch pin (recommended for theft deterrence).
  • Attach your trailer coupler to the ball as you normally would and verify the coupler latch is locked before moving.
Note on Drop/Rise: The TS10048C is designed as a level-tow shank. Measure your receiver height and trailer coupler height before purchasing if you need a significant drop or rise -- B&W offers adjustable-drop tri-ball variants for rigs where the receiver sits high off the ground.
Maintenance Tips: Wipe the chrome balls clean after each tow and apply a light coat of ball grease before hooking up a coupler. Inspect the shank for receiver slop or wear annually. If you store the mount off the truck, keep it in a bag or box to protect the chrome finish from shop scratches.

About B&W Hitches Tri-Ball Products

B&W Trailer Hitches, based in Humboldt, Kansas, is one of the most respected names in heavy-duty towing hardware. Their Tri-Ball line is designed for working truck owners, RV towers, and agricultural haulers who tow multiple trailer types and cannot afford downtime hunting for the right ball. The TS10048C sits in B&W's standard chrome Tri-Ball lineup -- a proven, no-frills design that focuses on correct fit, corrosion resistance, and long service life over gimmicks.

Related B&W Products: Pair this mount with a B&W receiver-locking hitch pin for theft protection, or consider the B&W Turnoverball gooseneck system if you also tow gooseneck trailers from the truck bed. B&W's GNRK1013 and similar gooseneck kits are popular complements to a Tri-Ball setup for owners who tow both bumper-pull and gooseneck trailers.

Important Information -- Read Before Towing
  • Always verify your trailer coupler size matches the ball you are using before each hookup. Mismatched ball and coupler sizes are a leading cause of trailer separation accidents.
  • The TS10048C is a fixed-shank mount. Confirm that the ball height is appropriate for your trailer coupler height before purchase -- do not use shims or spacers to compensate for height mismatches.
  • Do not exceed the individual ball or receiver rating. Check the B&W documentation for the maximum GTW and tongue weight ratings for each ball position on this specific mount.
  • Secure the hitch pin before every trip. A loose or missing hitch pin can allow the mount to eject from the receiver under load. A locking hitch pin is strongly recommended.
  • The 31-lb weight of this mount is a factor when removing it from the receiver -- use caution to avoid back strain, especially when working alone or on uneven ground.
  • Inspect the chrome balls for pitting, cracking, or damage at each use. Damaged balls must be replaced -- do not attempt to weld or repair a tow ball.
  • This mount is NOT compatible with 1-1/4-inch receivers. A 2-inch receiver is required.
