The Cummins Onan 307-2586 is the OEM start solenoid relay for the KY MicroQuiet (QG 3600/4000), KYD Camp Power, KV MicroLite (QG 2500/2800), and KVD generator series. The solenoid acts as a high-current switch in the starting circuit — when the start command is given, the solenoid receives a low-current signal from the control board and closes a high-current circuit between the battery and the starter motor, providing the burst of power needed to crank the engine.
Common symptoms of a failed start solenoid include a single loud click with no crank, no response at all to a start command, or intermittent starting failure. Because the solenoid handles the full starter current draw on every start cycle, it is a normal wear item over the life of a generator.
