Camco Eaz-Lift 7,500 lb Capacity 30" - 44" Adjustable Height

Camco 48850 Gooseneck Stabilizing Jack -- Stop the Bounce Before It Starts

The Camco Eaz-Lift 48850 is a purpose-built stabilizing jack designed to support and steady the front end of fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers while parked. By bracing the trailer tongue or gooseneck coupler against the ground, it dramatically reduces the rocking and swaying that makes life inside an unhitched trailer uncomfortable. With a 7,500 lb maximum load capacity and a wide 30" to 44" height adjustment range, it fits a broad variety of trailer heights and works on both level pads and uneven ground.

Front-End Stability for Fifth-Wheel and Gooseneck Trailers

When your trailer is unhitched and parked, any movement inside -- walking, shifting weight, opening cabinets -- transfers directly to the front end as vertical bounce and side-to-side sway. The Camco 48850 places a rigid support point under the gooseneck or fifth-wheel coupler area, distributing that load into the ground and keeping the nose of the trailer planted.

This jack is especially valuable for extended stays, full-timers, and anyone who regularly leaves the trailer unhitched at a campsite or storage yard. It works alongside your existing tongue or landing jacks -- it is a stabilizer, not a primary lifting device.

7,500 lb Load Rating

Rated for front-end loads up to 7,500 lb -- handles the tongue weight of most fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers without flexing.

30" to 44" Height Range

Wide adjustment range covers most unhitched trailer heights. Spin the adjustment collar to dial in the right contact height.

Tripod-Style Base

Three-leg tripod base spreads the load over a wider footprint, resisting tip-over on soft or uneven ground better than a single-column design.

Who Needs This Jack?

The 48850 is the right tool if you own a gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer that sits unhitched for days or weeks at a time. Common users include:

  • Full-time RV residents who feel every footstep as front-end bounce
  • Weekend campers who unhitch and want a stable sleeping environment
  • Livestock and cargo trailer owners who need the front end supported during loading
  • Anyone storing a gooseneck trailer on landing legs for extended periods

How It Works

Position the jack beneath a solid structural point near the front of the trailer -- typically under the gooseneck coupler or the trailer's front frame rail. Extend the height adjustment until the pad makes firm contact with the trailer structure, then lock it in place. The tripod base keeps the assembly upright while the load transfers through the jack column and out through the three feet to the ground.

Use a base pad (sold separately) under the feet when setting up on grass, gravel, or soft soil to prevent the feet from sinking and losing the stabilizing contact point.

Stabilizer, Not a Lift Jack

The Camco 48850 is designed to stabilize and support an already-level trailer -- it is not intended to lift or level a trailer from a fully collapsed position. Always use your trailer's primary landing jacks or tongue jack to achieve level before deploying this stabilizer.

Works With Both Trailer Types

The 48850 is compatible with fifth-wheel trailers (king-pin style) and gooseneck trailers (ball-coupler style). The wide height range accommodates the different hitch heights common between the two configurations. Verify your unhitched front-end height falls within the 30" to 44" adjustment range before purchasing.

Setup and Maintenance Tips

  • Periodically inspect the adjustment threads and moving parts for dirt and corrosion; clean and lightly lubricate with a dry or PTFE-based lubricant.
  • Check that all three tripod feet make solid ground contact before loading the jack.
  • On asphalt in summer heat, place a rigid foot pad under each leg to prevent sinking.
  • Store the jack extended partway rather than fully collapsed to reduce thread binding over time.
  • Inspect welds and the locking collar before each season for signs of stress or cracking.

Recommended Accessories

  • Jack foot pads / leveling blocks -- protect asphalt and soft ground from the tripod feet
  • Camco wheel chocks -- use in combination with this jack for complete front-end and rear-wheel stabilization
  • Tongue weight scale -- verify front-end load is within the 7,500 lb jack rating before relying on it as the sole support

Important Information -- Read Before Use

  • 7,500 lb maximum load -- do not exceed. Exceeding the rated load can cause sudden jack failure and serious injury or property damage.
  • This is a stabilizer, not a lifting jack. Never use the 48850 to raise a trailer off the ground or to substitute for a proper hydraulic or mechanical tongue jack.
  • Always level the trailer first using primary landing jacks before engaging this stabilizer.
  • Verify height range before purchase. If your unhitched trailer front end sits outside the 30" to 44" range, this jack will not provide proper contact.
  • Inspect before each use for cracks, bent components, stripped threads, or corrosion. Do not use a damaged jack.
  • Use foot pads on soft surfaces to prevent the tripod feet from sinking and creating an unstable support condition.
  • Keep clear during loading. Never stand under a trailer supported only by this jack while loading cargo or livestock.
