The Steele Rubber Products 90-3498-260 is manufactured from EPDM dense rubber — a firmer formulation than the sponge rubber used in compression seals. Dense rubber is the correct material choice for a drip rail because it maintains its angled profile shape under outdoor conditions and repeated rain exposure without softening, collapsing, or taking a permanent compression set. It will not fade, shrink, or crack, and is highly resistant to UV and ozone degradation.
The flush-mounted adhesive design is a key feature. The base of the drip rail is designed so that when pressed flat against the coach surface, the 3M bonded adhesive is shielded from direct water runoff — the most common cause of adhesive edge failure in exposed mounting strips. Apply between 60°F and 104°F (15°C–40°C) for best 3M adhesive bond strength. The temperature difference between the drip rail and the bonding surface should be as small as possible — avoid applying in direct sunlight on a very hot surface or in cold ambient conditions. For the strongest bond, bring the drip rail to a similar temperature as the mounting surface before applying. Surface Preparation: Completely remove any old drip rail, adhesive residue, dirt, wax, oxidation, and moisture from the mounting surface. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol and allow to fully dry. A clean, dry surface is the single most important factor in long-term bond performance — any contamination or moisture significantly reduces adhesion.

Measure & Cut: Measure the run length and cut the drip rail to length with scissors or a utility knife 5. Peel & Press: Starting at one end, remove backing a few inches at a time and press the drip rail firmly and evenly onto the mounting surface — do not remove all backing at once 6. Press Full Length: After positioning, press firmly along the entire length to ensure full contact between the adhesive base and the mounting surface — full contact is critical for a strong, lasting bond

How to Install a Peel-and-Stick Drip Rail on Your RV
1. Choose Your PlacementFind where water tends to run—above doors, windows, or slide-outs. Mark the start and end points so the rail sits evenly and looks factory-installed. Make sure it’s angled to direct water away from the RV.
2. Clean the SurfaceFor a strong bond, prep is key. Wash the area with soap and water. If it’s extra dirty or greasy, use a heavy-duty cleaner to remove residue and ensure full adhesive contact.
3. Apply the Drip RailPeel back a few inches of the adhesive backing and press the rail into place, starting at your marked point. Work slowly, pressing firmly as you go. Avoid repositioning to keep the adhesive clean and secure.
