Steele Rubber Products 90-3498-260 Peel-N-Stick RV Drip Rail - 7/8" H x 1/2" W x 10 Ft - Black

Steele Rubber Products 90-3498-260 Peel-N-Stick RV Drip Rail — 7/8" H x 1/2" W x 10 Ft — Black

EPDM dense rubber peel-and-stick drip rail designed to divert water away from RV doors, windows, and slide-outs. Flush-mounted design shields the 3M bonded adhesive from water runoff for a clean finished look and lasting bond. No drilling required — clean the surface, peel, and press. Available in black (this item) and white. 7/8" H x 1/2" W, 10 ft pre-cut strip. Hand crafted, made in USA.

Why Choose the Steele Rubber Products 90-3498-260 Peel-N-Stick Drip Rail?

A drip rail is not a weatherstrip seal — it serves a different and complementary function. Where a door or window seal compresses to close a gap and prevent air and moisture infiltration through contact, a drip rail is a water management component. Mounted above or around an opening, its angled or flanged profile catches rain and surface runoff before it reaches the door frame, seal, or opening edge, and redirects that water away and down the coach exterior. This actively reduces the water load that reaches door and window seals, helping extend seal life and preventing the slow water intrusion that leads to rot, delamination, and interior moisture damage over time.

The Steele Rubber Products 90-3498-260 is manufactured from EPDM dense rubber — a firmer formulation than the sponge rubber used in compression seals. Dense rubber is the correct material choice for a drip rail because it maintains its angled profile shape under outdoor conditions and repeated rain exposure without softening, collapsing, or taking a permanent compression set. It will not fade, shrink, or crack, and is highly resistant to UV and ozone degradation.

The flush-mounted adhesive design is a key feature. The base of the drip rail is designed so that when pressed flat against the coach surface, the 3M bonded adhesive is shielded from direct water runoff — the most common cause of adhesive edge failure in exposed mounting strips. This produces a clean, finished look with no visible adhesive after installation and protects the bond from the very runoff the drip rail is managing. Installation requires no drilling, no tools, and no special hardware — clean the surface, confirm temperature, peel, and press.

💧 Diverts Water Away from Openings

Angled drip rail profile catches and redirects rain and surface runoff away from door frames, window edges, and slide-out openings — reduces water load on seals and helps prevent moisture intrusion

🏷️ Flush-Mounted Adhesive-Shield Design

Flush-mounted base shields the 3M bonded adhesive from direct water runoff — prevents the adhesive edge failure common with exposed mounting strips; clean finished look with no visible tape

🔩 No-Drill Peel-and-Stick Installation

3M bonded adhesive backing — no drilling, no screws, no special hardware required; clean the surface, peel backing, press firmly along the full length, and the drip rail is ready to work

☀️ EPDM Dense Rubber — Weather-Proof

Dense rubber formulation maintains profile shape under outdoor conditions — will not fade, shrink, crack, or soften; resists UV, ozone, and repeated rain and sun exposure

⚠️ Installation Temperature & Surface Prep Note

Apply between 60°F and 104°F (15°C–40°C) for best 3M adhesive bond strength. The temperature difference between the drip rail and the bonding surface should be as small as possible — avoid applying in direct sunlight on a very hot surface or in cold ambient conditions. For the strongest bond, bring the drip rail to a similar temperature as the mounting surface before applying.

Surface Preparation: Completely remove any old drip rail, adhesive residue, dirt, wax, oxidation, and moisture from the mounting surface. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol and allow to fully dry. A clean, dry surface is the single most important factor in long-term bond performance — any contamination or moisture significantly reduces adhesion.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Active Water Management: Drip rail profile catches and redirects rain and surface runoff before it reaches door frames, window edges, and slide-out seals — actively reduces water infiltration risk rather than simply sealing a gap
  • Protects Seals & Extends Their Life: By diverting water away from door and window openings, the drip rail reduces the sustained moisture load on weatherstrip seals — helping extend seal life and reducing replacement frequency
  • Prevents Moisture Damage: Reduces water intrusion that leads to interior moisture, rot, and delamination in RV wall, floor, and door frame structures over time
  • Flush-Mounted Adhesive-Shield Design: Base design shields the 3M bonded adhesive from direct water runoff — prevents edge-lifting adhesive failure and creates a clean finished appearance with no exposed tape
  • 3M Bonded Adhesive: Superior-grade 3M adhesive for a durable, weather-resistant bond to RV exterior surfaces — strong grip through seasons of rain, heat, and UV exposure
  • No-Drill Installation: Peel-and-stick — no drilling, no screws, no special tools or hardware required; the only prep is surface cleaning
  • EPDM Dense Rubber Construction: Dense rubber maintains profile shape and stiffness outdoors — will not fade, shrink, crack, or soften; excellent UV and ozone resistance
  • Versatile Application: Suitable above entry doors, around slide-out openings, above windows, and anywhere runoff needs to be redirected on the coach exterior
  • Available in Black and White: Black (this item) and white (Part 90-3611-260) to match your coach exterior finish
  • Multiple Pre-Cut Lengths: Available in 6, 10, 15, and 30 ft pre-cut strips or by the foot — order exactly what your project needs

🔧 Installation Overview

What You Need:
No tools or drilling required. Recommended supplies: isopropyl alcohol, clean cloth, tape measure, scissors or utility knife.

Basic Installation Steps:

1. Check Temperature: Confirm ambient and surface temp is between 60°F and 104°F — bring the drip rail to a similar temperature as the mounting surface before applying

2. Remove Old Material: Completely remove any existing drip rail, adhesive residue, or sealant from the mounting surface

3. Clean & Dry: Wipe the bonding surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and allow to fully dry — do not apply to a damp or contaminated surface

4. Measure & Cut: Measure the run length and cut the drip rail to length with scissors or a utility knife

5. Peel & Press: Starting at one end, remove backing a few inches at a time and press the drip rail firmly and evenly onto the mounting surface — do not remove all backing at once

6. Press Full Length: After positioning, press firmly along the entire length to ensure full contact between the adhesive base and the mounting surface — full contact is critical for a strong, lasting bond

How to Install a Peel-and-Stick Drip Rail on Your RV

1. Choose Your Placement
Find where water tends to run—above doors, windows, or slide-outs. Mark the start and end points so the rail sits evenly and looks factory-installed. Make sure it’s angled to direct water away from the RV.

2. Clean the Surface
For a strong bond, prep is key. Wash the area with soap and water. If it’s extra dirty or greasy, use a heavy-duty cleaner to remove residue and ensure full adhesive contact.

3. Apply the Drip Rail
Peel back a few inches of the adhesive backing and press the rail into place, starting at your marked point. Work slowly, pressing firmly as you go. Avoid repositioning to keep the adhesive clean and secure.

Installation Tips:

  • Line up with existing trim for a clean, flush look

  • Adhesive sets on contact and fully cures in 72 hours

  • Best installed between 60–104°F

4. Trim and Finish
Once in place, cut off any excess at your end mark. That’s it — your RV is now better protected from rain and runoff!
