The Suburban Mfg 5148A (model SW12DEL) is a 12-gallon dual-power water heater that runs on LP gas, 120V electric, or both simultaneously for faster recovery. It uses direct spark ignition (DSI) on the gas side and a 1440-watt Incoloy electric element on the 120V side, delivering a 6.1 gallon-per-hour recovery rate on electric alone, or up to 16.2 gallons per hour when running gas and electric together. A 12-volt relay allows the electric heating element to be controlled from inside the RV. The durable porcelain-lined steel tank includes foam insulation and a replaceable anode rod for long service life.
In Suburban's model naming, the "L" in SW12DEL refers to the 12-volt relay used for interior control of the electric heating element - this model does not have a motorized damper.
The exterior access door and on/off switch are not included and must be purchased separately for a complete installation. This same water heater is also sold under part numbers 5248A and 5148F - all three correspond to the identical physical unit.
