Suburban Mfg 523008 -- 20-Inch Propane Pigtail Hose, Type 1 ACME Nut x 1/4" MPT
A purpose-built LP connection hose that links your propane tank to a two-stage regulator. UL/CGA listed, thermally protected, and sized at 20 inches for flexible routing in tight RV compartments. Regulator not included.
Most RV propane system failures trace back to an aging or damaged pigtail -- the short flexible hose that bridges the gap between a fixed propane cylinder and the two-stage regulator. The Suburban Mfg 523008 is engineered specifically for this role. At 20 inches, it gives you enough slack to remove and reinstall your tank without wrestling the regulator off its mounting bracket, while staying compact enough to fit neatly inside a standard LP compartment.
One end carries a Type 1 ACME nut (also called a QCC1 connection) that threads directly onto any standard horizontal-output propane cylinder valve -- the same type found on 20 lb and 30 lb tanks used by the vast majority of RVs and travel trailers. The other end is a 1/4" Male Pipe Thread (MPT) fitting that connects to the inlet port of a two-stage LP regulator. The 1/4" inside diameter bore is matched to the flow requirements of typical RV propane systems.
Hand-tightens directly onto standard QCC1 propane cylinder valves -- no tools needed at the tank end. Positive seal, no POL adapter required.
Standard male pipe thread fits the inlet of most two-stage LP regulators. Wrench-tighten with thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for propane service.
Built-in thermal protection sleeve adds a safety barrier in flash-fire or extreme heat exposure scenarios -- an important code requirement for RV LP systems.
Tested and listed to UL and CGA (Canadian Gas Association) standards. Meets the approval requirements for RV propane installations in the US and Canada.
Propane pigtail hoses should be inspected annually and replaced every 5-10 years, or any time you notice cracking, stiffness, abrasion damage to the outer jacket, or a failed leak test. A degraded hose is the most common source of LP leaks at the tank connection. This hose replaces OEM and aftermarket pigtails on any RV, camper, or propane installation that uses a QCC1/Type 1 tank valve and a 1/4" MPT regulator inlet.
