The waste gate valve is the component that holds waste inside the holding tank until you're ready to dump — and when it starts leaking, sticking, or failing to seal completely, it needs to be replaced promptly. A leaking waste valve is one of the most unpleasant maintenance issues an RV owner can deal with, and having the right replacement on hand makes the repair straightforward.
The Valterra T1002VP Bladex is one of the most widely used 2" replacement waste valve bodies in the RV industry. The Bladex design fits the flanged mounting systems found on Bladex, GrenTec, Valterra, Bristol, and Anonda holding tank valve installations — covering the vast majority of 2" waste valve positions across RV makes and model years. The valve body drops into the existing flange fittings using the included chemically resistant seals, and bolts down with the included hardware. The stainless steel shaft provides corrosion resistance at the operating mechanism, and the threaded plastic handle makes it easy to unscrew and replace the handle separately if it ever breaks — without needing to replace the entire valve body again. ABS construction throughout.

The waste gate valve (also called a dump valve or tank valve) is a sliding gate mechanism mounted between the holding tank outlet and the sewer hose connection. When closed, it seals the holding tank; when opened by pulling the handle, it allows waste to flow through the 3" sewer hose to the dump station. The T1002VP is the 2" valve body — used on gray water tanks (sinks and shower drainage) and some smaller black water tank installations. A 3" valve is typically used on the main black water tank. Signs the valve needs replacement: • Waste leaking from around the valve body or handle when closed • Valve handle difficult to push or pull — sticking or binding • Valve won't seal completely — tank drains slowly when the handle is in the closed position • Visible cracking or damage to the ABS valve body • Seals dried out, shrunken, or visibly deteriorated Valve body vs. full valve: The T1002VP is the valve body only — it fits into existing flange fittings that are still in place on the tank. If the flange fittings themselves are damaged, a full valve assembly with fittings (such as the T1002A spigot-to-spigot or T1002B hub-to-hub) is needed instead.
Valve body only: The T1002VP includes the valve body, seals, nuts, and bolts — it does not include flange fittings. This is a replacement for the valve body itself when the existing flange fittings are still mounted on the tank and in good condition. If your flange fittings are also damaged, you need a complete valve assembly with fittings: • T1002A — 2" Bladex Complete Valve, Spigot-to-Spigot • T1002B — 2" Bladex Complete Valve, Hub-to-Hub Confirm your valve size is 2": The T1002VP is the 2" body — most commonly used for gray water tank valves. Black water tank valves are typically 3" — if your existing valve is 3", see the Valterra T1003VP (3" with plastic handle) instead. Metal handle alternative: If you prefer an aluminum handle instead of plastic, see the T1002VPM — same 2" valve body with an aluminum handle.
Before Installing: • Confirm the holding tank is fully emptied and flushed before beginning • Wear gloves throughout the process • Confirm the existing flange fittings are undamaged and mounted securely to the tank Installation Steps: 1. Remove Old Valve: Remove the nuts and bolts securing the old valve body between the flange fittings. Slide the old valve body out — the existing seals will come with it or remain on the flanges 2. Clean Flange Faces: Clean the face of both flange fittings — remove any old seal material or debris 3. Position New Seals: Place the two included chemically resistant seals over the flange fitting faces — one on each side 4. Insert New Valve Body: Slide the T1002VP valve body between the two flanges, taking care not to dislodge the seals during insertion 5. Install Hardware: Thread the included bolts through the flange/valve assembly and tighten the nuts evenly — do not overtighten 6. Test: Open and close the valve to confirm smooth operation.
