600 lb capacity for Piaggio MP3 3-wheel scooters. 71.5" rails, 3 loading ramps, 4 tie-down bars. Reversible rails. Class III/IV. 236 lbs. Made in USA.
The VersaHaul VH-MP3 is a specialized carrier designed specifically for transporting Piaggio MP3 and similar 3-wheel scooters without the need for a trailer. This heavy-duty carrier features a three-rail design to accommodate the unique front two-wheel, rear one-wheel configuration of MP3 scooters. With a 600 lb total capacity (500 lbs maximum per rail), 71.5" rail length, and 36" main tube, the VH-MP3 provides the stable platform needed for safe MP3 transport.
The carrier includes three loading ramps (71" x 7.625") for easy loading from ground level. Rails can be reversed to allow loading access from either the driver or passenger side of your vehicle. The VH-MP3 comes complete with three wheel stops (1 standard + 2 extended), 4 retractable tie-down bars for secure attachment, anti-tilt lock bracket, and reflectors. Constructed from heavy-duty 14-gauge steel with powder coat finish and weighing 236 lbs, this carrier is intended for large trucks and motorhome suspensions. The VH-MP3 is proudly made in the USA and protected by US Patent (US D554,041 S; 20070052206).
Designed For: Piaggio MP3 and similar 3-wheel scooters Hitch Requirements: • Class III Hitch: Typically rated for 500 lbs tongue weight • Class IV Hitch: Typically rated for 1,000 lbs tongue weight • Receiver Size: Standard 2" receiver Important Hitch Considerations: • Low Hitches: Main tube extends at same level as hitch. Very low hitches may not work properly - verify ground clearance. • Recessed Hitches: Will shorten effective carrier length. Vehicle Requirements: • Large Trucks/Motorhomes: Designed for 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks or motorhomes • 1/2-Ton Trucks: May require air helper springs CRITICAL: VH-MP3 weighs 236 lbs. Total tongue weight = 236 lbs + MP3 weight. Always verify your vehicle's tongue weight rating.
This Complete System Includes: • (1) Anti-Tilt Lock Bracket • (1) 36" Main Tube • (1) Standard Wheel Stop (VH-050) • (2) Extended Wheel Stops (VH-050C) • (4) Retractable Tie-Down Bars • (3) Loading Ramps (71" x 7.625") • (2) Reflectors • Installation Instructions Carrier Specifications: • Model: VH-MP3 • Weight: 236 lbs • Capacity: 600 lbs total (500 lbs per rail) • Rail Length: 71.5" • Main Tube: 36"
BEFORE PURCHASING - READ CAREFULLY: Weight Considerations: The VH-MP3 weighs 236 lbs empty. When loaded with a 600 lb MP3 scooter, total tongue weight will be approximately 836 lbs. This substantial weight requires: • A vehicle with sufficient towing capacity and suspension • Potentially upgraded suspension (air helper springs) on 1/2-ton trucks • A properly rated Class III (500 lb) or Class IV (1,000 lb) hitch • Large truck or motorhome - NOT suitable for passenger cars or light-duty vehicles Hitch Limitations: • Most Class III hitches: 500 lbs tongue weight - limits MP3 to approximately 264 lbs (500 - 236) • Most Class IV hitches: 1,000 lbs tongue weight - adequate for full 600 lb capacity Per-Rail Load Limit - CRITICAL: The VH-MP3 has 600 lbs total capacity, but each rail is limited to only 500 lbs maximum. Ensure your MP3's weight distribution does not exceed 500 lbs on any single rail. Vehicle Suspension: Your vehicle's suspension capacity is the ultimate limiting factor. If your vehicle cannot safely handle 836+ lbs of tongue weight, DO NOT use this carrier.
Download the VersaHaul VH-MP3 Instruction ManualPre-Installation Requirements: 1. Verify vehicle's tongue weight rating (must handle 836+ lbs) 2. Confirm Class III or IV hitch with 2" receiver 3. Check hitch height for adequate ground clearance 4. Consider suspension upgrades if using 1/2-ton truck 5. Review complete VH-MP3 instruction booklet Assembly & Installation Overview: Connect 36" main tube to carrier rails, install anti-tilt lock bracket, position wheel stops, and mount tie-down bars. Insert assembled carrier into 2" hitch receiver and secure with hitch pin. Attach reflectors. Two-person installation recommended due to 236 lb weight. Reversible Rails Feature: Rails can be reversed for loading from either driver or passenger side. Configure for best access in your garage/driveway. Loading Your MP3: 1. Deploy all three loading ramps 2. Align ramps with MP3's three wheels 3. Slowly ride or push MP3 up ramps 4. Position on carrier rails 5. Secure with 4 retractable tie-down bars using straps 6. Remove and store ramps in vehicle 7. Verify stability and check tie-down tension Important Operating Restrictions: • DO NOT exceed 600 lbs total capacity • DO NOT exceed 500 lbs per rail • NEVER exceed vehicle's tongue weight rating • Check tie-downs after 50 miles
