The Camco 40621 is the standard replacement cartridge for the Camco EVO Premium RV water filter housing (40631). It delivers three stages of filtration in a single cartridge: water first passes through a 5-micron polypropylene shell that traps sediment and particles, then through a layer of KDFR (kinetic degradation fluxion) media that reduces heavy metals, chlorine, and inhibits bacterial growth, and finally through a bed of granulated activated carbon (GAC) that absorbs compounds affecting taste and odor.
Camco rates the 40621 for one camping season of use — roughly the practical lifespan of the KDFR and GAC media before they become saturated. The cartridge is CSA lead-free content certified to NSF/ANSI 372 and complies with California AB1953 and Vermont Act 193 low-lead laws. Replacement is straightforward: unscrew the EVO housing bowl, swap the cartridge, reassemble.
When to replace: At the start of each camping season, or sooner if water flow noticeably decreases or taste/odor issues return. How to replace: 1. Turn off the water supply and relieve pressure from the filter housing 2. Unscrew the housing bowl from the filter head 3. Remove the used cartridge and discard 4. Rinse the housing bowl, insert the new 40621 cartridge 5. Reassemble and restore water supply — flush for 1–2 minutes before use

The 40621 cartridge is designed for the Camco EVO Premium filter housing (#40631) only. It is not compatible with Camco's TastePURE inline filters (40043, etc.), which are sealed disposable units with no replaceable cartridge. The 40621 is the standard all-in-one replacement for most EVO Premium owners. The 40637 sediment-only cartridge is designed to be used as a pre-filter ahead of a carbon block cartridge (40624) to prolong carbon block life in water with heavy sediment. The 40638 is for the EVO X2 and X3 systems only.
