Camco CSA Approved 200,000 BTU/hr Rated Camco 59173 RV Propane Pigtail Connector Hose -- 36"

A reliable, code-approved link between your 20 or 30 lb propane cylinder and your RV regulator or 4-port brass tee. Built with thermal and excess-flow protection so a line failure or fire event doesn't turn into a bigger emergency. At 36 inches, it gives you enough reach to connect a secondary tank without crowding your propane compartment.

A Pigtail Hose You Can Trust at the Tank Connection

The weakest link in many RV propane systems is the hose that runs from the cylinder valve to the regulator. Cheap or aging hoses crack, leak, and lack the safety features required for modern RV use. Camco's 59173 is CSA certified and built to handle the demands of full-time RV living, weekend camping, or auxiliary tank setups.

The ACME (POL-style) fitting threads onto standard Type 1 OPD valves found on all refillable 20 and 30 lb DOT cylinders. The 1/4" male inverted flare on the other end connects directly to most two-stage and single-stage RV regulators, or to any port on a Camco or compatible 4-port brass tee when running a multi-cylinder configuration.

Thermal Protection

Built-in thermal shutoff activates if the hose is exposed to fire, cutting off gas flow before a small problem becomes catastrophic.

Excess Flow Protection

Automatic excess-flow valve closes if the downstream line ruptures or is severed, preventing uncontrolled propane release.

ACME x 1/4" Inverted Flare

ACME inlet fits standard OPD cylinder valves on 20 and 30 lb tanks. 1/4" male inverted flare outlet connects to most RV regulators and brass tees without adapters.

CSA Certified

Meets Canadian Standards Association requirements for propane hose assemblies -- accepted by campgrounds and inspectors across the US and Canada.

Typical Applications

  • Connecting a single 20 lb or 30 lb cylinder to a single- or dual-stage RV propane regulator
  • Adding an auxiliary propane supply cylinder to an existing 4-port brass tee setup
  • Replacing a cracked, aged, or non-certified pigtail hose during an annual propane system inspection
  • Setting up a portable propane station for a travel trailer, fifth wheel, or pop-up camper
  • Pairing with a Camco two-stage regulator or Camco 4-port brass tee (sold separately)
Auxiliary Tank Ready
This hose can connect to an installed 4-port brass tee as a secondary propane supply. Running out of gas mid-trip is eliminated when you use a tee to connect multiple cylinders simultaneously -- each one fed through its own pigtail hose like this one.

Fitting Compatibility

The ACME inlet (also called a POL-ACME or Type 1 ACME) is the standard connection for all refillable propane cylinders sold in North America after 1998. If your tank has an OPD (Overfill Protection Device) valve -- identifiable by the triangular hand wheel -- this hose connects directly with no adapter needed.

The 1/4" male inverted flare outlet is the standard inlet thread for the overwhelming majority of RV and trailer propane regulators. If your regulator uses a different inlet fitting, a compatible brass adapter is required (sold separately).

Not sure if your regulator is compatible?
Look at the regulator inlet -- if it accepts a 1/4" inverted flare male fitting (common on Camco, Marshall Excelsior, Cavagna, and most OEM regulators), this hose connects directly. Regulators with a 3/8" inverted flare inlet require an adapter.

Installation Notes

  • Hand-tighten the ACME fitting onto the cylinder valve first, then snug with a wrench -- do not overtighten; ACME fittings seal with a nylon washer, not pipe tape.
  • Thread the 1/4" inverted flare end into the regulator or tee inlet and tighten with a wrench -- use two wrenches (one on the fitting, one on the regulator body) to avoid twisting internal components.
  • After connection, test all joints with leak-detection solution or soapy water before lighting any appliances.
  • Do not use PTFE tape or pipe dope on inverted flare or ACME fittings -- these are metal-to-metal or nylon-washer seals.
Inspection Reminder
Propane hoses should be inspected annually for cracks, blistering, abrasion, or UV damage. A hose that shows any surface cracking -- even without a detectable leak -- should be replaced. The 90-day limited warranty covers manufacturing defects, not wear from normal use.
Maintenance Tip
Store the hose coiled loosely -- never kinked or bent sharply at the fittings. When not in use for extended periods, cap both ends to prevent dust and moisture from entering the fittings. Check the ACME nylon washer each season; replace it if it shows flattening or cracking.

Important Information
  • For use with 20 lb and 30 lb refillable propane cylinders with OPD (Type 1 ACME) valves only -- not compatible with non-refillable 1 lb disposable cylinders.
  • Rated for 200,000 BTU/hr maximum flow -- do not use with high-demand appliances that exceed this rating.
  • Do not use PTFE tape or pipe dope on ACME or inverted flare fittings -- these use mechanical seals and sealant will cause improper seating and leaks.
  • Always perform a leak test with approved leak-detection solution after installation and before operating any propane appliance.
  • Inspect the hose for cracks, brittleness, or blistering before every use -- replace immediately if damage is found.
  • Do not allow the hose to contact hot surfaces, sharp edges, or moving parts.
  • CSA approved -- check local regulations and campground rules for any additional requirements in your area.
