CarCover 5-Ply Gold Shield 5L Fits 29 to 33 Ft Fifth Wheels CarCover Gold Shield 5L Fifth Wheel Trailer Cover -- 29 to 33 Feet (Part 5RV-5WT-2933)

Purpose-built for fifth wheel trailers in the 29-to-33-foot range, the Gold Shield 5L delivers serious all-season protection without trapping moisture. Five-ply construction on top and three-ply on the sides means you get where the weather hits hardest -- the roof -- and lightweight but effective coverage on the flanks. Zippered access panels, ladder and gutter protection, adjustable buckles, and accommodation for up to three rooftop AC units make this a practical daily-storage and long-term-storage choice.

Heavy-Duty Protection for Your Fifth Wheel Investment

Fifth wheels sit outside through months of sun, rain, wind, snow, bird droppings, tree sap, and road dust. The Gold Shield 5L is engineered around that reality. The five-layer top panel stacks UV-resistant polypropylene layers around a micro-porous film core that blocks liquid water while letting water vapor escape outward -- the same breathability principle used in quality rain gear. That vapor escape matters: trapped humidity under a non-breathable cover breeds mildew, soft-spots the roof membrane, and accelerates delamination of sidewalls over time.

The three-layer side panels address crosswind exposure and debris impact. An extended top overhang adds extra fabric that drapes down the sides, reducing the gap where rain runoff can blow under the edge. Reinforced double-stitched seams run the full perimeter to prevent thread pullout at stress points during high winds.

5-Ply Roof Construction

UV-resistant polypropylene outer layers sandwich a micro-porous film that blocks rain and snow while venting moisture vapor. Blocks over 98% of dust and airborne debris.

3-Ply Side Panels

Lighter-weight three-layer fabric on the sides resists crosswind debris, sun fade, and side-angle rain exposure without adding unnecessary bulk or weight.

Zippered Access Panels

Multiple zippered entry points let you reach entry doors and storage compartments without pulling the entire cover. Saves time on frequent-access trips.

Triple AC Unit Clearance

Cover accommodates up to three rooftop air conditioning units with integrated openings -- no cutting required, no compromise to the seal around the unit bases.

Secure Fit -- Even in Wind

A loose cover causes more damage than no cover: constant flapping abrades the clearcoat, the noise is disruptive, and eventually the cover tears or blows off entirely. The Gold Shield 5L addresses this with a layered retention system:

  • Elasticized hems at the front and rear corners pull tight against the trailer nose and tail, preventing corner lift.
  • Adjustable weighted buckles run along the lower edges to cinch out slack and stop billowing in gusting conditions.
  • No-tools installation -- the buckle system is designed to be tightened by hand without ladders or straps threaded underneath the chassis.
Ladder Cap and Gutter Covers Included: Sharp ladder rungs and metal rain gutters are two of the most common sources of fabric tears on trailer covers. The Gold Shield 5L ships with a dedicated ladder cap that pads the top rung and gutter covers that protect the fabric at roof-edge contact points -- two details often omitted from budget covers.

Sun and Heat Management

Gray is not an arbitrary color choice here. The sun-reflective gray fabric reduces radiant heat buildup under the cover, which matters for trailers stored in direct sun for weeks at a time. Lower under-cover temperatures mean less thermal cycling stress on roof seams, slide seals, and plastic vent covers. The same reflective property slows UV degradation of decals, sidewall graphics, and exterior plastic trim.

Reflective Safety Panels: The cover includes reflective strips that improve visibility of the parked trailer at night -- useful in driveways, storage yards, or campground overflow areas where low-light vehicle movement occurs.

Long-Term Storage Readiness

For seasonal storage, the breathable micro-porous film is the most important single spec. It prevents the sealed-in humidity cycle that causes mildew on awning fabric, soft spots on roof membranes, and corrosion on roof-mounted hardware. Pair the cover with a properly sealed roof (check lap sealant before covering) and adequate ventilation inside the trailer for best results.

Storage and Repair Tips:
  • Clean and dry the trailer exterior before covering for long-term storage -- dirt trapped under the cover can act as an abrasive.
  • Use the included storage bag to fold and store the cover when traveling; compact folding reduces stress on seam stitching.
  • Apply the included patch kit promptly to any punctures -- a small hole becomes a large tear under sustained wind load.
  • Inspect buckle straps seasonally for UV brittleness; replace any cracked straps before re-covering.
Fitment Note: This cover is sized for fifth wheel trailers measured at 29 to 33 feet in length. Measure your trailer from the front pin box to the rear bumper (not hitch-to-bumper). Overhanging roof accessories like satellite dishes or extended ladder mounts may affect fit. Confirm your trailer height does not exceed 10.08 feet at the roofline.

Important Information -- Read Before Ordering
  • Size range is 29 ft to 33 ft. Measure trailer length from front pin box to rear bumper before ordering -- not from hitch ball to bumper.
  • Maximum covered height is 10.08 ft. Trailers with extended rooftop hardware (tall antennas, elevated satellite dishes) may exceed this clearance.
  • This cover accommodates up to 3 rooftop AC units. Trailers with more than 3 AC units or unusually large AC shrouds should verify fit before purchase.
  • Cover is water-resistant, not submersion-proof. Do not allow water to pool on the top surface -- ensure the cover is taut so runoff flows to the edges.
  • Do not cover a wet or dirty trailer for long-term storage. Trapped debris acts as an abrasive; trapped moisture accelerates mildew and corrosion.
  • Inspect all buckle straps and elastic hems before each use. UV exposure degrades elastic and polypropylene webbing over time.
  • Not intended for use while towing. Remove cover completely before moving the trailer.
  • Patch kit is for minor field repairs only. Large tears or seam failures should be addressed before the cover is reused in high-wind conditions.
Protecting your RV with a quality cover is essential for maintaining its value and longevity. RVs are significant investments that are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them susceptible to damage from corrosion, mold, and UV rays. Unlike standard vehicles, RVs serve as mobile homes for many, and a cover can provide added insulation and privacy, enhancing your comfort while protecting against the elements. By investing in an RV cover, you reduce wear and tear, ensuring that your RV remains in excellent condition for years to come.

How To Measure Your Fifth Wheel Trailer:

Length: Measure the longest point from the front to the rear of the trailer. For a fifth wheel, measure from the rear including bumper, spare tire and ladder, until the furthest point on the nose of the trailer coach. Exclude the hitch.

Height: Measure the trailer sidewalls at the highest point of the roofline down to the outside frame, excluding ground clearance, roof-mounted accessories, vents, and A/C units. Remember, don't stop at the top of the wheel well!

How to Install Your Fifth Wheel Cover:

1. Identify the front of the cover by locating the "Front" tag on the interior.
2.
Lay the cover lengthwise on the ground, inside out, with the exterior facing up.
3.
Fold the sides toward the center and roll the cover from the rear, leaving the front end loose.
4.
Position the rolled cover at the rear of the RV near the ladder.
5.
Loosen the roll slightly, then climb the ladder while holding the front end.
6.
Pull the cover onto the roof gradually until you have a strip covering the entire roof.
7.
Starting at the front, unfold the cover side to side, letting it drape down the sides as you move to the rear.
8.
Ensure the corner opposite the ladder is positioned under the cover’s corner.
9.
Climb down while bringing the cover down with you, then adjust the cover as needed.

Removal:

1. Undo all straps and zippers on the cover.
2.
Lift the front of the cover to the top of the RV.
3.
Pull the cover down from the rear.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
