This coating is formulated for metal roofs only. Do NOT use on EPDM rubber or TPO roofing membranes. Apply to roof surface only. Cover exterior sidewalls and front and rear caps with plastic sheeting before applying. If coating contacts any surface other than the roof, wash off immediately with soapy water.
If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. Lead is toxic. Exposure to lead dust can cause serious illness, including brain damage, especially in children. Pregnant women should also avoid exposure. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and wet mop. 1β2 weeks before coating: Reseal all fasteners and around all roof protrusions and vent mountings with Dicor 501 Lap Sealant if needed. Surface Preparation: 1. Remove all loose dirt, oil, rust, chalk, mildew, and loose coating 2. Rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry completely 3. Remove all rust down to bright metal using wire brush, sandpaper, or steel wool 4. Apply Dicor Metal Rust Inhibitive Primer (RP-MRRIP-Q) to all rust-removed areas. Required for aluminum surfaces. 5. Seal all joints and seams with Dicor Coating Ready Cover Tape (RP-CRCT-4-1C) Application: 6. Apply un-thinned at 200 sq. ft. per gallon per coat by brush or roller 7. Apply minimum 2 coats at right angles to each other. Allow first coat to dry fully before applying second (approximately 1β2 hours at 70Β°F / 50% humidity) 8. Allow 24 hours for full cure Do not apply below 50Β°F or when rain or freezing temperatures are expected within 4 hours. At least 2 of those 4 hours should include direct sunlight.
RP-MRRIP-Q β Metal Roof Rust Inhibitive Primer (1 Qt.) Required before coating on aluminum surfaces. Recommended for all areas where rust has been removed. Apply primer and allow to dry before coating. RP-CRCT-4-1C β Coating Ready Cover Tape (50 ft.) Seal all roof joints and seams with this cover tape before applying the coating. Tip: Apply lap sealant around all fasteners and roof protrusions 1β2 weeks before coating to allow proper cure time.
