MTI Industry 30-442-P-BL RV LP Gas Alarm Detector - Black Flush Mount

MTI Industry 30-442-P-BL RV LP Gas Alarm Detector - Black Flush Mount

Black 12V hardwired propane/LP gas alarm detector for RVs, with flush-mount installation, mute/reset function, and RV-rated propane safety monitoring.

Why Use the MTI Industry 30-442-P-BL?

The MTI Industry 30-442-P-BL Safe-T-Alert alarm detector is a 12V hardwired propane/LP gas detector designed for RV use. It monitors for propane gas and activates an audible alarm when gas levels reach an unsafe threshold.

This black flush-mount model is commonly used as a replacement for expired, damaged, or malfunctioning LP gas alarms in RVs. It is intended for installations where the existing detector is LP-only, powered by the RV’s 12V DC system, and installed into a recessed wall opening.

Because propane is heavier than air, LP gas detectors are typically installed low in the RV according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Always follow MTI’s placement, wiring, and testing instructions when replacing the detector.

🚨 LP Gas Detection

Alerts occupants when dangerous propane gas levels are detected

🔌 12V Hardwired

Runs from the RV’s 12V DC electrical system

📐 Flush Mount

Designed for compatible recessed RV wall installations

🔊 85 dB Alarm

Audible alarm output helps alert occupants to unsafe gas levels

⚠️ LP-Only Detector Note

MTI Industry 30-442-P-BL is a propane/LP gas alarm detector only. It does not detect carbon monoxide and should not be used to replace a combination CO/LP alarm detector. If the original alarm detects both CO and LP gas, use the correct combination replacement instead.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Propane/LP Gas Alarm Detector: Monitors for propane gas and alerts occupants when levels become unsafe
  • 12V DC Hardwired Power: Connects to the RV’s 12V electrical system, eliminating disposable alarm batteries
  • Flush-Mount Design: Installs into compatible recessed RV wall openings for a cleaner built-in appearance
  • Black Finish: Matches darker RV interior panels, cabinets, and trim areas
  • Mute / Reset Circuit: Allows the alarm to be silenced while the RV is ventilated
  • Reactivation Protection: The alarm can reactivate if dangerous propane levels remain after mute/reset
  • Low Alarm Threshold: MTI’s manual lists the alarm trigger at less than 25% of the lower explosive limit of propane
  • 85 dB Audible Output: Provides a loud audible warning when alarm conditions are detected
  • RV Gas Alarm Standard: MTI manual references UL 1484 RV gas alarm compliance
  • Replacement-Friendly Layout: Good option when replacing a compatible 12V LP-only flush-mount detector

LP Gas Alarm Troubleshooting

Issue Possible Alarm / Installation Cause What to Check
Alarm will not power on
No 12V power, poor ground, blown fuse, or wiring issue
Verify 12V DC supply, ground connection, fuse/circuit protection, and wire polarity
Alarm sounds repeatedly
Propane may be present, or the alarm may be exposed to fumes or contaminants
Evacuate first, shut off propane if safe, ventilate only when safe, and inspect for leaks before assuming nuisance alarm
Alarm chirps or indicates fault
Low voltage, end-of-life condition, or detector fault may be present
Check RV battery voltage, wiring, detector age, and manufacturer fault code instructions
New detector does not fit the old cutout
Old detector may have used a different case size, screw pattern, or wall opening
Compare dimensions before ordering and consider whether wall repair or an adapter plate is needed

🚫 Propane Safety Warning

If the alarm sounds or propane odor is detected, evacuate the RV immediately. Shut off propane if safe to do so, avoid flames, sparks, smoking, appliances, generators, electrical switches, and phones inside the RV, and have the propane system inspected before use. Do not ignore, disable, cover, paint, or relocate the alarm outside the manufacturer’s approved installation instructions.
