A direct-connect LP gas pigtail built for RV dual-cylinder propane systems. The Marshall Excelsior MECMER425-20 delivers 200,000 BTU high-flow capacity through a thermally protected, UL-listed and CGA-approved flexible thermoplastic hose -- fully crimped, pressure-rated, and backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty.
RV propane pigtails see more stress than most owners realize -- repeated connection cycles, UV exposure, vibration from road travel, and occasional accidental pulls at the connection point. The MECMER425-20 is built to handle all of it. The fully crimped brass ferrules on both ends eliminate hose slippage at the fittings, and the thermal protection feature shuts off flow if the hose is exposed to fire or extreme heat -- a critical safety layer in any LP system.
The Female QCC Type 1 (Quick Closing Coupling, OPD-compatible) end connects directly to standard 20 lb. and 30 lb. DOT cylinders. The 1/4" male inverted flare end threads into the inlet of a two-stage or single-stage RV regulator. This is the standard pigtail configuration used on the vast majority of travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes with dual-cylinder manifold setups.
Hand-tightens directly onto standard OPD valves on 20 lb. and 30 lb. LP cylinders -- no tools needed at the tank end.
Rated at 200,000 BTU and 100 SCFH (standard cubic feet per hour) -- sufficient for full-rig LP demand including furnace, range, water heater, and refrigerator simultaneously.
Built-in thermal shutoff cuts LP flow automatically if the hose is exposed to fire or extreme heat, reducing risk of uncontrolled gas release.
Brass ferrules are factory-crimped at both ends for a permanent, leak-resistant seal -- no clamps to check or tighten over time.
The QCC Type 1 (also called POL Type 1 or ACME connector) is the current standard for portable LP cylinders sold in North America. It replaced the older POL left-hand thread valve and is required on all cylinders manufactured after 1998. If your RV has a dual-cylinder manifold with an automatic or manual changeover regulator, this is the pigtail you need at each cylinder.
The 1/4" male inverted flare (MIF) outlet is the standard inlet thread on most two-stage RV LP regulators. Common compatible regulators include Marshall Excelsior, Cavagna, Rego, and most OEM-installed dual-stage regulators found on Forest River, Keystone, Grand Design, Heartland, and Thor units. If you are unsure of your regulator inlet size, check for a brass nut fitting -- 1/4" inverted flare is by far the most common.
LP pigtails should be inspected before every camping season and replaced every 5 years or at first sign of wear -- whichever comes first. Replace immediately if you notice:
Most RVs use two pigtails -- one per cylinder -- running from each tank valve to the inlet ports of a dual-inlet automatic changeover regulator mounted on the tongue or LP compartment. The MECMER425-20 is sold individually; order two if you are replacing both pigtails in a standard dual-cylinder setup. The 20" length provides enough slack to accommodate slight cylinder position variation without putting tension on the regulator fittings.
