Marshall Excelsior 350 PSIG Rated Made in USA Marshall Excelsior MER425-60 -- 60" RV LP Gas Pigtail Hose, Female QCC Type 1 x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare

A properly rated LP pigtail is not a place to cut corners. The MER425-60 gives you a UL-listed, CGA-approved 60-inch connection between your RV propane tank and regulator -- with fully crimped brass ferrules, built-in thermal protection, and a 200,000 BTU/hr flow capacity that keeps up with high-demand appliance loads.

Reliable LP Flex Line for RV Propane Systems

Marshall Excelsior has manufactured LP gas equipment in the USA for decades. The MER425-60 pigtail hose is built to their exacting standards for RV and recreational vehicle propane service -- connecting a standard QCC Type 1 (Acme) tank valve to a 1/4" male inverted flare inlet on a two-stage or single-stage regulator.

At 60 inches (5 feet) of usable length, this pigtail gives you enough reach to connect dual-tank setups through a changeover valve or to route the hose away from heat sources and sharp edges. The flexible thermoplastic construction resists kinking and holds its shape across a wide temperature range.

350 PSIG Working Pressure

Rated for 350 PSIG working pressure -- well above the 250 PSIG typical of a full propane cylinder -- giving a solid safety margin in RV service.

200,000 BTU/Hr Capacity

High-flow QCC connector delivers up to 200,000 BTU/hr and 100 SCFH, enough to feed multiple RV appliances simultaneously without starving the regulator.

Thermal Protection Built In

Integral thermal protection shuts off gas flow automatically if the hose is exposed to excessive heat -- an important safety feature for enclosed propane compartments.

Fully Crimped Brass Ferrules

Both ends are factory-crimped with brass ferrules -- no clamps to loosen over time, no DIY assembly required. Leak-free connections right out of the box.

Connection Types Explained

The female QCC Type 1 end (also called an Acme nut or POL-replacement connector) threads onto any standard 1-5/16"-18 ACME male outlet found on US propane cylinders of 4 lbs and larger -- including the common 20 lb and 30 lb tanks used in most RV dual-tank setups. No tools required to connect; hand-tighten the swivel nut and the internal check valve in the tank valve opens automatically.

The 1/4" male inverted flare end connects directly to a regulator, changeover valve, or T-fitting inlet that accepts a standard 1/4" inverted flare (SAE 45-degree) fitting. This is the most common inlet thread on two-stage RV regulators. Tighten with a wrench -- do not over-torque brass fittings.

High-Flow QCC Connector: The QCC Type 1 fitting on this hose is rated for up to 100 SCFH (standard cubic feet per hour), making it suitable for high-demand applications like furnaces, water heaters, and ranges running simultaneously. Lower-flow QCC connectors (typically capped at 20 SCFH) are not appropriate for whole-coach supply lines -- this one is.

Typical RV Applications

  • Connecting individual propane cylinders to a dual-tank automatic or manual changeover regulator
  • Replacing aged, cracked, or sun-damaged pigtail hoses on Class A, B, or C motorhomes
  • Connecting a single propane tank to a compact single-stage regulator on a travel trailer or fifth wheel
  • Supply line from an exterior propane quick-connect station to a portable tank
Fitment Note: The QCC Type 1 female end fits all standard US propane cylinders with a Type 1 (Acme) outlet valve -- the industry standard since 1998. Older POL-style (left-hand thread) tank valves require a different adapter or hose and are NOT compatible with this fitting.

Construction and Compliance

The hose body is a flexible thermoplastic construction approved by both UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and CGA (Compressed Gas Association) for LP gas service. The 1/4" nominal hose ID supports the rated flow without excessive pressure drop. Both end fittings are brass, factory-crimped with no reusable or field-replaceable ferrules.

Manufactured in the USA by Marshall Excelsior Company, a Michigan-based LP gas equipment manufacturer with a long track record in the RV, agricultural, and industrial propane markets.

Maintenance Tip: Inspect propane pigtail hoses at least once per season and before any extended trip. Look for cracking, abrasion, kinking, or discoloration near the ferrules. Replace immediately if any damage is found. Even UL-listed hoses have a finite service life -- Marshall Excelsior and NFPA 58 recommend replacing LP hoses that show signs of wear or have been in service more than 5-10 years.
Pairing Tip: This pigtail is commonly used with a Marshall Excelsior or Cavagna two-stage automatic changeover regulator. If you are replacing one of two pigtails on a dual-tank setup, replace both at the same time so both sides have equal service life and the same rated flow.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • This hose is rated for LP (propane) gas service only. Do not use with natural gas, compressed air, or any other gas or liquid.
  • Maximum working pressure is 350 PSIG. Do not use in systems that can exceed this pressure.
  • The female QCC Type 1 fitting requires a Type 1 (Acme) tank valve. It will NOT attach to older POL-style valves without a separate adapter.
  • Always leak-test with approved soapy water solution or leak detector fluid after installation. Never use an open flame to check for leaks.
  • Tighten the 1/4" inverted flare end with a wrench -- hand-tight is not sufficient. Do not over-torque; brass fittings can crack.
  • Inspect hose for cracks, kinks, abrasion, or damaged ferrules before every use. Replace any hose showing signs of deterioration immediately.
  • Do not allow the hose to contact sharp edges, hot surfaces, or moving parts. Route and secure with appropriate LP-rated clamps or ties.
  • Installation must comply with NFPA 58 (LP Gas Code) and all applicable local codes. Consult a qualified LP gas technician if you are unsure of proper installation.
