A reliable, purpose-built propane supply hose for connecting the pressure regulator to the permanent gas piping system in motor coaches, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. With 1/2" female flare swivel and 3/8" male pipe thread ends, this hose drops into place on standard RV LP installations without adapters.

Regulator-to-Piping Connection You Can Count On

MB Sturgis has built propane components for the RV industry for decades. The 100429-48 hose is designed specifically for low-pressure downstream service -- the segment of the LP system between the two-stage or single-stage regulator and the coach's internal copper or steel gas piping. At 48 inches, it provides enough working length to clear chassis obstructions, allow for slight movement between the hose reel or tank compartment and the entry point of the piping system, and still route cleanly without excessive slack.

The 1/2" female flare swivel fitting mates to the standard 1/2" male flare outlet found on most RV LP regulators, while the 3/8" male pipe thread end threads directly into a 3/8" female pipe fitting on the coach's permanent gas line. The swivel design on the regulator end prevents the hose from twisting during installation and allows for easy alignment without wrench-fighting.

350 PSI Working Pressure

Rated for 350 PSI maximum -- well above the 11" W.C. (roughly 0.4 PSI) delivered on the low-pressure side of an RV regulator, providing a substantial safety margin.

Where This Hose Is Used

This is a low-pressure downstream hose, meaning it is installed on the outlet side of the LP regulator, not between the tank and the regulator. Common installation points include:

  • Motorhome and motor coach LP compartments -- regulator outlet to chassis piping entry
  • Travel trailer and fifth wheel hitch areas -- regulator to underbelly gas line
  • Replacement of cracked, kinked, or age-hardened OEM low-pressure hose during LP system service
  • New installation or re-routing where additional hose length is needed versus a short factory connection
Swivel Fitting Simplifies Install: The rotating 1/2" female flare end lets you hand-tighten onto the regulator outlet and orient the hose run before final torque -- no need to spin the entire hose body.

Thread and Fitting Identification

Confirming the right hose before you order saves a trip back to the parts shelf. Here is how to identify the fittings on your existing connection:

  • Regulator outlet end: Look for a flared brass fitting with a hex nut that threads onto a male flare stub. If it is 1/2" nominal flare (7/8"-14 UNF thread), this hose fits.
  • Gas piping entry end: If the permanent piping has a 3/8" female pipe thread (3/8" NPT) port, the male pipe thread end of this hose threads directly in.
  • If your installation uses 3/8" female flare or 1/4" pipe thread, different end configurations or adapters are required -- this hose is specifically 1/2" female flare swivel x 3/8" MPT.
Low-Pressure Service Only: This hose is rated and designed for the low-pressure (second-stage regulated) side of an RV LP system. Do not use it for high-pressure tank-to-regulator service. For high-pressure pigtail hoses, see the appropriate MB Sturgis high-pressure hose series.

Installation and Leak-Check Tips

  • Use an approved pipe thread sealant (yellow gas-rated PTFE tape or liquid sealant) on the 3/8" male pipe thread end only -- never apply sealant to flare fittings.
  • Tighten the 1/2" female flare swivel nut to snug plus approximately 1/4 turn with a wrench. Do not overtighten flare fittings.
  • After installation, perform a soap-bubble or electronic leak check at both ends before lighting any appliances.
  • Route the hose clear of exhaust components, sharp edges, and moving chassis parts. Use a hose clamp or tie wrap to secure routing if needed.
  • Inspect annually for cracking, stiffness, abrasion, or fitting corrosion and replace if any damage is found.
Maintenance Reminder: LP hoses should be inspected at least once per season. UV exposure, ozone, and freeze-thaw cycling can degrade rubber over time even if the hose is not leaking yet. When in doubt, replace it -- a low-pressure LP hose is inexpensive insurance.
