The Equal-i-zer hitch system is engineered to reduce sway and distribute tongue weight across all four wheels of your tow vehicle. To perform as designed, it needs a hitch ball that matches its geometry and load rating precisely. This 2-5/16" ball is the factory-matched option -- dimensioned and rated to work in direct contact with the Equal-i-zer coupler bracket without shimming or modification.
The 1-1/4" diameter, 2-1/4" long threaded shank seats properly in the Equal-i-zer shank receiver and torques down with the included lock washer and nut. No sourcing hardware separately, no guessing at thread pitch.
Forged construction -- not cast -- gives this ball the grain structure to handle repeated high-load towing cycles without fatigue cracking.

This is the correct replacement or spare ball for any Equal-i-zer 4-point sway control weight-distribution hitch rated at 10,000 lb gross trailer weight. It is also appropriate for use on aftermarket and OEM ball mounts from other brands when the application calls for a 2-5/16" ball on a 1-1/4" shank at 10,000 lb or lower GTW.
Equal-i-zer engineers this ball to the exact shank length and ball diameter tolerances their coupler bracket expects. Using a generic or mismatched ball can result in excess play, uneven weight distribution, or premature coupler wear. When in doubt, use the factory-spec ball.
Thread the shank through the ball mount platform, install the lock washer, and thread the hex nut by hand. Torque the nut to the specification listed in your Equal-i-zer owner's manual for the 1-1/4" shank diameter. Do not use an impact wrench without a torque stick -- over-torquing can stress the shank threads. Re-check torque after the first 50 miles of towing.
The 2-1/4" shank length is specific to this application. If your ball mount platform is thicker than standard (stacked adapters, for example), confirm you have adequate thread engagement below the nut before towing. A minimum of 1" of thread engagement under the nut is the general industry standard.
Equal-i-zer backs this ball with a limited 2-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Retain your proof of purchase. Warranty does not cover damage from misuse, overloading beyond the rated capacity, or improper installation.
Wipe the ball clean before each trip and apply a light coat of ball mount grease or lithium-based lubricant to the ball surface. This reduces coupler wear, prevents galling under load, and makes uncoupling easier after a long haul. Inspect for corrosion or surface pitting at every trip; a pitted ball can cause the coupler latch to seat inconsistently.
