Running propane from a portable DOT cylinder to your grill, buddy heater, or RV appliance should be simple -- and safe. Beyond the gauge, this hose assembly includes built-in excess flow protection that automatically restricts flow if a downstream line is severed, and thermal protection that responds to dangerous heat buildup in a fire event. Both safety features are passive -- no buttons, no user action required.

The inline pressure gauge on the Camco 59023 is a flow-dependent gauge. It will not show a reading when the cylinder valve is open but no appliance is drawing gas. The gauge only reads while propane is actively flowing. This is normal and expected for this style of gauge -- open your appliance valve first, then check the gauge needle to assess pressure.
The cylinder end uses a soft-nose male POL fitting. Soft-nose POL fittings do not require a separate internal valve to seal -- the fitting itself compresses against the cylinder valve seat when hand-tightened. No tools or thread sealant are needed at the cylinder connection. The appliance end terminates in a 1/4" inverted male flare (also written as 1/4" IMF), which mates to any device with a standard 1/4" inverted female flare inlet -- the most common thread standard on gas grills and portable propane appliances in North America.
