A direct-replacement motor for Lippert In-Wall (Schwintek) slide-out systems that use the 5mm output shaft IG-42GM motor. Designed to drop in without adjustment, this 12V DC unit restores full slide-out operation and is shipped ready to install -- no bench assembly required.
Lippert's In-Wall slide-out system -- commonly called Schwintek -- drives room extensions using a pair of small gearmotors running on internally toothed rack rails embedded in the slide walls. When one of those motors fails, the slide either stops moving, moves unevenly, or triggers a fault on the controller. Part number 240015 replaces the IG-42GM motor with the 5mm output shaft used in the majority of In-Wall installations produced during the system's primary production run.
Unlike many generic replacements, this is a genuine Lippert assembly -- matched to the original motor specifications, gear ratio, and shaft diameter. That means the rack engagement stays correct and you won't need to recalibrate slide travel limits after swapping the motor.
Matches the IG-42GM specification. Verify your existing motor shaft diameter before ordering -- some late-model In-Wall systems use a 7mm shaft (different part number).
Runs directly from your coach's 12V house battery system -- no inverter or converter needed during slide operation.
Factory-set gear mesh. Swap the motor, reconnect the harness, and the slide is ready to cycle -- no rack-engagement tuning needed.
Ships as a complete motor assembly. No loose gears, no separate wiring harness to source -- just the motor unit ready to bolt in.
Schwintek motors are small, high-cycle gearmotors. Common failure modes include:
When only one motor fails, the slide often tilts or one side leads the other. Replacing just the failed motor is the correct repair -- replacing both motors is recommended only if the second motor is also showing high amperage draw.
Replacing an In-Wall motor requires drilling out the bonded motor retainer and re-bonding the new unit with fast-setting adhesive. Typical tools needed:
Lippert In-Wall systems were produced with two different output shaft diameters. This part (240015) is for the 5mm shaft IG-42GM motor. If your existing motor has a 7mm shaft, you need a different Lippert replacement part. To check: remove the motor from the slide rail and measure the output shaft diameter with calipers. Do not guess based on coach year alone -- shaft size varies by slide room, not just model year.
The In-Wall motor is bonded into its carrier during installation. Removal requires drilling out the retention bond and the new motor must be re-secured with fast-bonding structural adhesive. Neither the adhesive nor the drill bit is included with this part. Have these on hand before beginning the job.
If your In-Wall controller (typically mounted near the slide mechanism) shows fault codes, check whether the fault clears after motor replacement. A controller that was running a shorted motor may have sustained its own damage. If the new motor cycles correctly but the controller still faults, the control board may need separate attention.
