Norcold absorption refrigerators heat the cooling unit using either a propane burner (gas mode) or an electric heating element (AC mode). The AC heating element is mounted in a pocket in the boiler system and provides the heat input needed to drive the absorption cooling cycle when the refrigerator is running on shore power. When the element fails the refrigerator will not cool on AC power, but may still cool normally on LP gas. The elbow-style configuration matches the OEM geometry of the N7/N8/N10 and compatible N6XX/N8XX boiler assemblies.
