The 94-6477 kit ships with the hitch head, standard shank, spring arms, snap-up lever, and all mounting hardware. No drilling or tapping required. The shank seats in any standard 2-inch x 2-inch receiver and locks with the included hardware. Spring arms clip into the head and attach to the trailer A-frame brackets -- that is the entire installation.

Conventional weight distribution hitches spread tongue weight front-to-back using spring bars under tension, but leave the trailer free to yaw side-to-side. A separate sway control bar is then bolted on to add friction resistance. The Equal-i-zer integrates both functions: the spring bars are captured in a head that physically resists lateral rotation at the coupling point. When the trailer tries to yaw, all four bar-to-head contact points push back simultaneously. This provides a more consistent, predictable resistance than a single friction bar, and it works in both directions without needing to be re-set.
The included standard shank measures 12 inches in length with a maximum rise of 7 inches and a maximum drop of 3 inches from the top of the hitch receiver opening. This range of adjustment covers a wide variety of tow vehicle and trailer combinations without purchasing a separate shank. The shank slides into a 2-inch x 2-inch receiver and is secured with the included hardware.
Before purchasing, confirm that your tow vehicle's receiver is rated for at least 600 lb tongue weight and 6,000 lb gross trailer weight. The hitch itself is rated to those limits, but the receiver and vehicle must match or exceed them for safe operation.
The spring bars included with this kit measure 36 inches long by 1-1/2 inches wide. They engage into the hitch head via the snap-up lever -- no chains, no hooks, no separate tensioning tools required beyond the snap-up mechanism. Maximum trailer frame height for the spring bar brackets is 6 inches.

1. Sway Control Brackets:
Rigid trailer attachments work with friction sway control to combat trailer sway. Brackets are height adjustable to control the amount of weight distribution tension on the spring arms.
2. Spring Arms:
The spring arms serve two purposes. When raised onto the sway control brackets they transfer trailer tongue weight evenly to the tow vehicle. They also work with the friction sway control to reduce trailer sway.
3. Downward Pressure:
Downward pressure from trailer tongue increases friction sway control. Trailer hitch ball mounts here.
4. Upward Pressure:
Sway control brackets distribute weight by maintaining upward pressure on spring arms. The amount of pressure on the spring arms is a factor of trailer tongue weight and vehicle suspension. The friction sway control utilizes this pressure to control trailer sway.
