A pin box mounts on top of the 5th wheel head and provides a new pivot point for the kingpin, giving a wider turn radius for the 5th wheel trailer. A rotating pin box, like the Sidewinder, needs to be kept from swiveling out of control in its mounting location — that's exactly what the Curt 16992 wedge kit does. It inserts into the hitch head, locking the pin box into place so it can pivot as designed without excess play.
This wedge kit is designed to fit any CURT A-series 5th wheel hitch and accommodates select models of the Sidewinder pin box. It permanently attaches behind the kingpin of the pin box using the included bolts, and it's constructed from solid, welded steel for maximum strength and dependability.
