Camco 200,000 BTU/hr Rated Thermal + Excess Flow Protection Camco 59073 20" Propane Pigtail Hose -- Type 1 ACME x 1/4" Inverted Male Flare

A reliable, code-compliant connection between your 20 lb or 30 lb refillable LP cylinder and your RV or trailer propane regulator. Built with dual safety features and rated at 200,000 BTU per hour -- enough capacity for most RV appliance loads combined.

Dependable LP Connection for RVs, Trailers, and Campers

The Camco 59073 propane pigtail hose is the standard solution for connecting a Type 1 (QCC1) LP cylinder to a dual-stage or single-stage propane regulator on your RV, travel trailer, fifth wheel, or pop-up camper. At 20 inches long, it gives you enough reach to comfortably route the hose from a tank compartment or exterior propane locker to your regulator inlet without kinking or straining the connection.

The Type 1 ACME nut threads onto standard OPD-valve 20 lb and 30 lb refillable propane cylinders -- the same tanks used at most campgrounds and exchange stations. The 1/4" inverted male flare on the regulator end connects directly to the standard 1/4" inverted flare inlet found on most RV regulators and 4-port brass propane tees.

200,000 BTU/hr Capacity

Handles the full combined load of typical RV appliances including furnace, water heater, cooktop, and refrigerator without flow restriction.

Thermal Protection

Built-in thermal protection device shuts off gas flow automatically in the event of a fire near the hose -- a critical safety layer for enclosed propane compartments.

Excess Flow Protection

Excess flow valve triggers if a downstream line ruptures or is severed, stopping gas flow before a dangerous buildup can occur.

Type 1 ACME Nut Fitting

Left-hand threaded ACME nut fits all standard OPD-equipped 20 lb and 30 lb refillable LP cylinders -- no adapters needed for typical RV setups.

Fits Your RV Regulator or 4-Port Tee

The 1/4" inverted male flare on the outlet end is the industry-standard connection for RV propane regulators. This hose works with single-tank regulators, automatic changeover regulators, and 4-port brass propane tee manifolds commonly used to run multiple appliance lines from one supply point. No extra adapters or fittings are needed for standard RV installations.

Ready to Connect Out of the Box

No tools required for the ACME nut end -- hand-tighten to the LP cylinder valve. The 1/4" inverted flare end should be tightened with a wrench and leak-tested with approved leak-detection solution before use.

When to Replace Your Pigtail Hose

Propane hoses should be inspected at least once per season and replaced if you notice any of the following:

  • Cracking, brittleness, or visible damage to the hose jacket
  • Corrosion or scoring on the ACME nut or flare fitting
  • Any detectable odor near the hose when the system is pressurized
  • Hose is more than 5 years old, especially if stored outdoors or in UV-exposed compartments
Heads Up -- Not for Natural Gas

This hose is designed for LP (liquefied petroleum / propane) service only. Do not use with natural gas systems. Verify that your regulator inlet is a 1/4" inverted flare before connecting -- some older or aftermarket regulators use POL or other fittings that require a different pigtail.

Common Applications

  • Single-tank or dual-tank RV propane regulator setups
  • Travel trailers, fifth wheels, pop-up campers, and toy haulers
  • Replacing a cracked, corroded, or aged pigtail hose
  • Adding a second tank to an existing regulator via a 4-port tee
  • Connecting a portable 20 lb cylinder to a portable or trailer-mounted regulator
Installation Tip

Always perform a leak test with an approved propane leak-detection solution (not open flame) after any LP connection is made or remade. Check the ACME nut, flare fitting, and all regulator connections before lighting any appliance.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • For LP (propane) use only. Not compatible with natural gas systems.
  • Always shut off the LP cylinder valve before disconnecting or reconnecting this hose.
  • Hand-tighten the ACME nut to the cylinder valve -- do not use tools on the ACME nut, which can damage the soft-seated connection.
  • Tighten the 1/4" inverted flare fitting to the regulator with a wrench; do not hand-tighten only.
  • Perform a leak test with approved detection solution -- never use an open flame -- after every installation or reconnection.
  • Do not use if the hose is cracked, kinked, abraded, or more than 5 years old.
  • Keep hose away from heat sources, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts when routing in propane compartments.
  • This hose does not include a regulator. A propane regulator is required between this hose and your RV appliance system.
