Lippert2,200 lb Axle Rating5 on 4.5 in. Bolt PatternLippert 814207 Idler Hub with Bearing Cone Kit

A direct-replacement idler hub assembly for light trailer axles rated at 2,200 lbs. The Lippert 814207 ships ready to install -- solid iron construction with the full bearing cone kit already included so you are not hunting down separate components at the parts counter.

Drop-In Hub Replacement with Everything You Need to Finish the Job

When a trailer hub wears out or a bearing fails, you need a replacement that matches the original bolt pattern, stud size, and bearing stack exactly. The Lippert 814207 is engineered for 2,200 lb trailer axles using the common 5 on 4.5 inch (5x4.5 in.) bolt circle -- the same pattern found on a wide range of Lippert-equipped travel trailers, toy haulers, and utility trailers built around 13 to 15 inch wheels.

Unlike bare hub castings that require a separate trip for bearings, this kit bundles the inner and outer bearing cones, matching bearing cups, a double-lip grease seal, and a cotter pin into one box. The solid iron hub flange is machined to accept standard 1/2 inch wheel studs and seats the bearing stack to OEM tolerances.

Solid Iron Construction

Heavy-duty iron casting resists deformation under load and provides consistent bearing seat geometry over the service life of the axle.

Complete Bearing Kit Included

Inner and outer bearing cones, inner and outer bearing cups, double-lip grease seal, and cotter pin ship in the box -- no separate sourcing required.

5 on 4.5 in. Bolt Circle

Matches the bolt pattern used on the majority of 2,200 lb Lippert trailer axles. Compatible with 13 to 15 inch wheels running 1/2 inch studs.

1-Year Limited Warranty

Backed by Lippert's limited 1-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

What Is an Idler Hub?

An idler hub is the non-braking wheel hub used on trailer axles that do not have drum brake assemblies. It houses the inner and outer wheel bearings, retains the bearing grease behind a lip seal, and transfers the wheel load to the spindle. On a typical tandem-axle travel trailer, the front axle may be the idler (non-braked) axle, while the rear axle carries electric drum brakes. Always confirm whether your axle position requires an idler hub or a brake hub before ordering.

Kit Contents -- What Is Included:
  • 1 solid iron idler hub (5 on 4.5 in. bolt pattern)
  • 1 inner bearing cone
  • 1 outer bearing cone
  • 1 inner bearing cup
  • 1 outer bearing cup
  • 1 double-lip grease seal
  • 1 cotter pin
What Is NOT Included:
  • Spindle nut and washer (reuse existing hardware if in good condition, or purchase separately)
  • Grease/bearing lubricant (pack bearings with a quality wheel bearing grease rated for trailer use before assembly)
  • Dust cap (reuse your existing dust cap or order separately to match your spindle diameter)
  • Lug nuts (use existing hardware that matches your wheel and stud specification)

Fitment and Compatibility Notes

The 814207 is designed for Lippert trailer axles rated at 2,200 lbs with a 5 on 4.5 inch bolt pattern. Verify the following before ordering:

  • Bolt pattern: 5 lug holes on a 4.5 inch diameter bolt circle. This is also expressed as 5x114.3 mm.
  • Stud size: 1/2 inch -- confirm your existing lug nuts are 1/2 inch thread before installing.
  • Wheel size: Fits 13 inch to 15 inch wheels.
  • Axle type: Idler (non-braked) axle only. Do not use this hub on a brake axle position.
  • Spindle compatibility: Intended for Lippert axle spindles using the standard 25580/L68149 bearing stack common to 2,200 lb axle assemblies.
Confirm Your Axle Rating Before Ordering: Lippert produces idler hubs for multiple axle weight classes (1,750 lb, 2,200 lb, 3,500 lb). The hub casting and bearing dimensions differ between classes. Match the replacement hub to the axle capacity stamped on your axle tube or listed on your trailer's certification label.
Installation and Maintenance Tips:
  • Always pack new bearings with fresh wheel bearing grease before assembly -- do not rely on residual grease from shipping.
  • Torque the spindle nut to the manufacturer's specification, then back off slightly and re-tighten to finger-tight before installing the cotter pin. Overtightening preloads the bearing and accelerates wear.
  • Inspect and repack wheel bearings at least once per season or every 12,000 miles of towing -- whichever comes first.
  • Replace the grease seal any time the hub is removed from the spindle. The seal lip takes a set and reinstalled seals are prone to leaking.
  • Check lug nut torque after the first 50 miles of towing following any hub replacement.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing:
  • This is an idler (non-braked) hub. Do NOT install on a brake axle position -- a brake hub assembly is required for drum brake axles.
  • Axle weight rating is 2,200 lbs. Do not use on axles with a higher weight rating -- bearing dimensions and hub geometry differ for 3,500 lb and heavier axle classes.
  • Bearings must be packed with fresh wheel bearing grease before installation. Dry assembly will cause immediate bearing failure.
  • Always replace the grease seal when replacing the hub. Reused seals frequently fail and allow grease loss and contamination.
  • Verify bolt pattern (5 on 4.5 in.) and stud size (1/2 in.) match your existing wheel and lug nut hardware before completing installation.
  • Spindle nut, dust cap, and bearing grease are not included and must be sourced separately.
