B&W Hitches5/8" Receiver LockBOLT SeriesB&W Hitches TS51230 BOLT 5/8" Receiver Lock with Key

Stop ball mount theft before it starts. The B&W Hitches TS51230 is a hardened steel 5/8-inch receiver lock designed to secure your hitch ball mount or other hitch-mounted accessories inside a standard 2-inch receiver. It drops in where your standard hitch pin goes, locks with a key, and makes drive-off theft of your ball mount, weight distribution head, or bike rack significantly harder without adding bulk or complexity to your setup.

Protect Your Hitch Investment With a Dead-Simple Lock

If you run a quality ball mount, a weight distribution head, a cargo carrier, or a bike rack, you already know how easy it is for someone to walk up, pull the hitch pin, and walk off with your gear. The B&W BOLT receiver lock replaces your standard 5/8-inch hitch pin with a keyed locking cylinder -- same footprint, same fitment, dramatically better security.

B&W Hitches is best known for their fifth wheel hitches and gooseneck solutions built to serious towing standards. The BOLT lock line carries that same attention to material quality and fit. This is not a flimsy padlock-and-cable setup; it is a solid locking pin purpose-built for the 5/8-inch cross-pin hole found on virtually all 2-inch receiver-style hitches.

5/8 Inch Locking Pin

Replaces the standard 5/8-inch hitch pin in any 2-inch receiver tube, securing ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, and more.

Hardened Steel Construction

Resists cutting and sawing. The shackle and pin body are hardened to stand up to bolt cutters and hand tools better than standard pins.

Keyed Lock Cylinder

Ships with keys. The cylinder locks and unlocks cleanly without tools -- just insert and turn. No combination to forget on the road.

Direct Pin Replacement

Designed to fit where your factory-style hitch clip pin already lives. No drilling, no adapter, no modification to your receiver or ball mount.

Where the BOLT Lock Fits in the B&W Lineup

B&W offers the BOLT locking hitch pin as a standalone security accessory that pairs naturally with their Turnoverball, Companion, and other fifth wheel hitch systems, as well as with conventional 2-inch receiver ball mounts from any manufacturer. Part number TS51230 is the 5/8-inch keyed variant -- the size that matches the standard cross-pin hole on full-size 2-inch receiver hitches common to trucks, SUVs, and Class A and Class C motorhomes.

If you are running a 1-1/4-inch receiver (common on smaller SUVs and some minivans), that application uses a smaller pin diameter and this lock will not fit. TS51230 is specifically for the 2-inch receiver class with a 5/8-inch pin hole.

Works With Your Existing Ball Mount

Because this lock uses the same 5/8-inch diameter as the standard hitch pin, it is compatible with ball mounts, weight distribution heads, cargo carriers, and bike racks from any brand -- Curt, Draw-Tite, Reese, B&W, Andersen, and others -- as long as the receiver is a standard 2-inch tube with a 5/8-inch cross-pin hole.

RV and Full-Timer Applications

For RV owners, receiver security matters in a few specific situations:

  • Overnight stops at campgrounds or rest areas where your tow vehicle is unattended and a ball mount or tow bar is left installed
  • Bike racks or cargo carriers left mounted while you are inside the RV or away from the rig
  • Weight distribution hitch heads that represent significant replacement cost if stolen
  • Tow dollies and supplemental braking system brackets that attach via a 2-inch receiver
Campground Security Note

Most RV campground theft of hitch accessories happens quickly and opportunistically. A keyed locking pin is not impenetrable, but it eliminates the quick grab-and-go option that makes unattended hitches a target. Pair it with a coupler lock on your trailer for layered security at the campsite.

Installation -- No Tools Required

Installation is straightforward. Slide your ball mount or other accessory into the receiver tube, align the 5/8-inch cross-pin holes, insert the BOLT lock pin, and turn the key to lock. The key can be removed in the locked position only, confirming the lock is engaged. To remove, insert the key, turn to unlock, and pull the pin free.

Maintenance Tips
  • Apply a small amount of dry graphite lubricant or marine-grade spray to the cylinder annually, especially if you tow in wet or coastal environments where corrosion can affect the lock cylinder.
  • Keep the spare key in a secure location separate from the key you use daily -- not in the tow vehicle glove box.
  • Inspect the pin body periodically for surface rust; a light coat of anti-rust spray on the shank will extend service life.

Important Information
  • This lock fits 2-inch receivers with a 5/8-inch cross-pin hole only. It is NOT compatible with 1-1/4-inch receivers or any receiver requiring a 1/2-inch pin.
  • This is a theft-deterrent product, not a theft-proof solution. No lock is impervious to all attack methods; determined thieves with cutting tools may still defeat any pin lock given enough time.
  • Do not use this lock as a safety retention device for towing. Always use safety chains and proper trailer coupling per DOT and vehicle towing guidelines. The lock secures accessories when parked, not during active towing.
  • Keys included are specific to this lock cylinder. Keep a spare in a secure, separate location -- locksmith re-keying services may not be available for proprietary lock cylinders.
  • Inspect the lock pin and receiver tube fit before use. If the pin does not seat fully or the lock cylinder does not turn cleanly, do not force it.
