Lippert3500 lb CapacityElectric A-Frame JackLippert Smart Jack Electric Tongue Jack -- 3500 lb (Part 15-1832)

The Lippert Smart Jack is the first truly intelligent trailer tongue jack on the market. It combines an electric A-frame bolt-on design with practical smart features -- LED halo lighting at the coupler, automatic retract to towing height, and hitch recognition memory -- so hitching and unhitching your trailer is faster, safer, and less frustrating. Built with helical-cut gears, a powder-coated steel body, and a 9-inch diameter foot, this jack is engineered for long-term durability and quiet operation.

A Smarter Way to Level and Hitch Your Trailer

Most electric tongue jacks are one-trick devices -- press up, press down, done. The Lippert Smart Jack goes further. The hitch recognition mode memorizes your exact hitch height so you can return to that precise position at your next stop without guessing. The auto-retract feature brings the jack to towing height in one press without holding the switch down. These are real time-savers for full-timers and frequent towers who hitch up dozens of times a year.

The motor is completely enclosed within the jack body, protecting wiring and cables from road debris and preventing snag hazards on the trail. The backlit control panel only illuminates when a button is pressed, then shuts off automatically to minimize battery drain.

Hitch Recognition Mode

Saves your exact hitch height. One press extends or retracts to that stored position automatically -- no manual measuring or guesswork.

Auto-Retract

Single press raises the jack fully to towing height. No need to hold the switch. Saves time when breaking camp in the rain or dark.

LED Halo Lighting

Bright halo-effect LEDs shine directly onto the ball and coupler -- exactly where you need light most during nighttime hitching.

9-Inch Foot Diameter

One of the largest foot pads available on a tongue jack. Spreads the load over soft ground, gravel, and uneven surfaces for better stability.

Smart Features That Matter in the Field

The battery indicator on the control panel gives you a real-time read on power status before you start a long retract cycle -- useful when you are boondocking or parked without shore power. The backlit buttons light up on contact and go dark automatically, a small but meaningful detail that protects your tow vehicle battery over long stays.

Manual Override Included: A hand-crank override is located on top of the jack and is included in the box. If the battery dies mid-cycle, you can manually operate the jack without tools. This is a critical safety feature for remote camping situations.

Construction and Finish

The jack is built from steel with a powder-coated black finish for corrosion resistance. Helical-cut gears replace the straight-cut gears found in lower-cost jacks, reducing operating noise and improving gear mesh efficiency over time. The enclosed motor design also keeps road grime and moisture away from the drivetrain.

Bolt-On A-Frame Design: This is an A-frame bracket-mount jack, meaning it bolts directly to the A-frame of compatible trailers. It is not a weld-on or side-wind style. Confirm your trailer's A-frame tongue has compatible mounting geometry before ordering.

Installation Notes

The Smart Jack ships with mounting hardware and the manual override crank. You will need a 12V DC power connection at the tongue of your trailer -- most trailers with an existing electric tongue jack or breakaway battery will already have this. Route the wiring through the enclosed channel in the jack body to keep cables protected and tidy.

Maintenance Tips:
  • Inspect the foot pad and mounting bolts annually and after rough towing.
  • Apply a light coat of dielectric grease to the wiring connectors at each season start.
  • Keep the gear housing clean -- wipe down after muddy or beach use.
  • Store with the jack partially extended if parked long-term to relieve spring tension.
Compatibility Note: Verify your trailer's A-frame tube width and existing mounting hole pattern matches a standard Lippert A-frame bracket tongue jack footprint before ordering. Lippert also offers weld-on and swivel-style jacks if your trailer requires a different mount type.

Important Information
  • Maximum tongue weight capacity is 3500 lbs -- do not exceed this rating. Overloading can damage the jack and create a towing safety hazard.
  • This is an A-frame bolt-on jack. It is NOT compatible with trailers requiring a weld-on mount or a side-wind / swivel jack design.
  • A 12V DC power source at the trailer tongue is required for electric operation. Wiring is not included beyond the jack's own harness.
  • Manual override crank is included and should be kept accessible at all times in case of power failure during operation.
  • Confirm mounting hole pattern and A-frame tongue dimensions on your specific trailer before installation. Incompatible geometry may require an adapter bracket.
  • Do not operate the jack on surfaces that cannot support the load. Use the 9-inch foot pad on stable, level ground whenever possible.
