The Lippert 240015 is the genuine OEM replacement motor assembly for LCI In-Wall® slide-out systems — the same innovative design Lippert markets as the Schwintek system, now found in more than 70 RV brands including Grand Design, Keystone, Coachmen, Forest River, Heartland, Thor, and many others. Unlike rack-and-pinion or cable-driven systems, the In-Wall® slide-out has no mechanical components above, below, or beside the room — the entire drive mechanism is built into the side walls of the slide-out itself, with small IG-42 gear motors nestled in the upper corners of the wall assembly engaging a gear rack to push and pull the room.
The 240015 is specifically the IG-42GM 5mm motor — the variant with a 5mm output shaft that engages the gear rack inside the wall. This motor comes as a complete assembly with all components pre-attached, requires no adjustment, and installs with a drill and fast-bonding adhesive. When one motor fails — identified by one side of the slide-out moving faster or not at all — the 240015 restores synchronized operation. Lippert backs it with a 1-year limited warranty.

Understanding the In-Wall® mechanism helps diagnose motor failures vs. other system issues: Frame-in-frame design — no external mechanism: The outer frame is fixed in the RV wall opening. The inner frame holds the slide-out room and rides on rollers. Unlike through-frame or rack-and-pinion systems, there are no tubes, rods, or actuators outside the wall. Two IG-42 motors drive each slide-out — one in each upper corner of the wall assembly. Each motor's output shaft engages a horizontal gear rack inside the wall. When energized, both motors turn simultaneously, driving the room in or out along the gear racks. Magnetic encoder for synchronization: Each motor has a magnetic encoder that counts revolutions. The In-Wall® controller tracks both motors' revolution counts and keeps them synchronized. If one motor lags or leads, the controller compensates. After motor replacement, the controller must be resynchronized to recognize the new motor. Error codes: The In-Wall® controller reports specific error codes (see TI-177 at support.lci1.com) when it detects a motor fault, synchronization problem, or obstruction — the error code is the starting point for any diagnosis before replacing a motor.
The 240015 is the 5mm output shaft motor. In-Wall® systems use either a 5mm or 10mm output shaft motor depending on when your RV was built and the slide size. Installing the wrong shaft size will prevent the motor from engaging the gear rack correctly. How to identify your shaft size: The motor label or the Lippert In-Wall® system label on the wall frame will identify the motor model. Lippert's QR-144 Motor Part Number Identification guide (available at support.lci1.com) is the authoritative reference. Alternatively, contact Lippert with your RV VIN — they can confirm the correct motor for your specific system. Both motors must be the same gear ratio. Each slide has two motors. If you are replacing only one, the replacement must match the gear ratio (the RPO specification on the system label) of the motor that remains in place. Mixing motors of different ratios will cause synchronization errors and potentially damage the slide system. Resynchronize after any motor replacement per Lippert Technical Information Sheet TI-177. Failure to resynchronize may result in the slide-out tracking unevenly or the controller reporting error codes.
Tools & Supplies Needed: Drill or cordless screw gun, fast-bonding adhesive (e.g., Loctite or equivalent — not included), appropriate bit for mounting screws Key Installation Steps: 1. Retract the slide-out fully before beginning motor replacement 2. Locate the failed motor — In-Wall® motors are positioned in the upper corners of the wall assembly, accessible from inside the RV. Remove the interior trim or wall panel to expose the motor housing 3. Disconnect the wiring harness from the failed motor — note the connector orientation 4. Remove the motor from the wall — the motor is secured with screws and fast-bonding adhesive; carefully free it from the wall channel without damaging the gear rack 5. Clean the mounting area — remove old adhesive residue from the wall channel before installing the new motor 6. Apply fast-bonding adhesive to the motor mounting surface and position the 240015 into the wall channel, engaging the 5mm output shaft with the gear rack 7. The In-Wall® controller reports error codes that precisely identify the failure type — always read the error code first before diagnosing or replacing any component. Many field issues are resolved by clearing an obstruction, cleaning the gear rack, or performing the resynchronization procedure — without any parts replacement.
Both motors in a slide-out pair must be the same part number / gear ratio. Never mix a 300:1 and 500:1 motor in the same slide — the controller will not synchronize correctly and may damage the system. If replacing only one motor, the replacement must match the motor remaining in place.
