CURT Mfg 4-Pin Flat No-Splice Install CURT 56020 T-Connector Trailer Wiring Harness -- 2004-2014 Ford Econoline Van

Add trailer lighting capability to your Ford Econoline van without cutting a single wire. The CURT 56020 is a vehicle-specific T-connector harness that plugs directly into the factory tail light wiring, delivering a standard 4-pin flat connector at the rear of the vehicle -- ready for any trailer, camper, or cargo carrier that uses the flat 4-pole standard.

Plug-and-Play Trailer Wiring for the Ford Econoline

The Econoline van -- whether used as a passenger shuttle, work vehicle, or RV tow rig -- has a factory tail light harness that CURT engineers have already mapped for you. The 56020 T-connector uses custom-molded connectors that mate directly to the existing plugs behind the tail light assemblies. No wire splicing, no soldering, no tapping into circuits with add-a-fuse kits. The factory connectors are simply unplugged, the CURT T-connector is inserted in between, and the vehicle is back together with a fully functional trailer wiring output.

This harness outputs the four standard trailer lighting functions -- left turn/brake, right turn/brake, running/tail, and ground -- through a standard 4-pin flat connector that mates with virtually every light-duty trailer on the road, as well as most bike racks, cargo carriers, and RV accessories that mount to a 2-inch or 1-1/4-inch hitch receiver.

Vehicle-Specific Fit

Molded connectors match the factory Econoline tail light harness exactly -- no universal adapters, no guesswork on wire color matching.

No-Splice Design

Plugs in line with existing factory connectors. Vehicle wiring is never cut or permanently modified -- fully reversible.

4-Pin Flat Output

Industry-standard 4-flat connector at the trailer end fits the majority of light-duty trailers, bike racks, and cargo carriers sold in North America.

Compact and Storable

At just 9 x 4 x 3 inches and under 1 lb, the harness tucks neatly behind the bumper fascia when not towing.

What Fits: Confirmed Fitment Years

The CURT 56020 is designed and tested specifically for the Ford Econoline van platform. Confirmed fitment includes:

  • 2004 Ford Econoline E-150, E-250, E-350
  • 2005 Ford Econoline E-150, E-250, E-350
  • 2006 through 2011 Ford Econoline E-150, E-250, E-350
  • 2012 through 2014 Ford Econoline E-150, E-250, E-350

Always verify your specific build year and trim against CURT's compatibility lookup before ordering. Extended cargo van (E-350 Super Duty) variants on the same platform are typically included.

Why T-Connector vs. Universal Wiring? Universal trailer wiring kits require you to identify wire colors in the vehicle's harness, splice in, and hope you matched the right circuits. The CURT T-connector eliminates all of that. Because it's built specifically for the Econoline, it takes under 30 minutes for most installers and leaves the factory wiring completely intact.

What Is and Is Not Included

  • Included: CURT 56020 T-connector wiring harness with vehicle-side connectors pre-installed
  • Included: 4-pin flat trailer-side connector (standard flat 4-pole)
  • Not included: Trailer wiring (harness terminates at the vehicle rear; trailer has its own wiring)
  • Not included: Hitch receiver or ball mount (sold separately)
  • Not included: Converter for 5-pin or 7-pin trailer connectors (CURT offers adapter pigtails if needed)
Need 5-Pin or 7-Pin? If your trailer uses a 5-flat (with a brake or auxiliary circuit) or a 7-way RV blade connector, you will need a separate converter or a different CURT harness designed for those configurations. The 56020 outputs 4-pin flat only and does not support electric trailer brakes.

Installation Overview

Installation requires no special tools beyond basic trim removal tools and a flashlight. General procedure:

  • Access the tail light assemblies from inside the cargo area or by removing the tail light bezels
  • Locate the factory harness connector at each tail light
  • Unplug factory connector and insert T-connector in line
  • Route the 4-pin flat pigtail to the rear of the vehicle
  • Test all four circuits with a trailer or test light before use
Maintenance Tip: After installation, apply dielectric grease to the 4-pin flat connector contacts. Econoline vans are frequently used in commercial and fleet environments where the connector may be exposed to moisture, road spray, and temperature swings. Dielectric grease prevents corrosion and ensures a reliable connection season after season.

About CURT T-Connector Wiring

CURT Manufacturing is one of the largest towing accessory brands in North America, and their T-connector series covers thousands of vehicle applications. The T-connector lineup uses vehicle-specific engineering rather than one-size-fits-all approaches, which means each harness is designed, tested, and validated against the actual factory wiring for that vehicle. CURT part numbers in the 56000-range are specific to full-size van and commercial van platforms.

Pair With: A CURT trailer hitch for the Econoline (CURT 11378 or similar) and a CURT 4-pin to 7-pin adapter (CURT 57141) if you occasionally tow trailers with 7-way connectors. All designed to work together as a complete towing system.

Important Information -- Please Read Before Installing
  • This harness is designed for 2004-2014 Ford Econoline vans only. It will not fit Transit, Sprinter, or earlier E-Series body styles. Verify your exact model year before installation.
  • The 4-pin flat connector supports lighting circuits only -- left turn/brake, right turn/brake, tail lights, and ground. It does not support electric trailer brakes or auxiliary 12V power. If your trailer has electric brakes, you need a 7-way system.
  • Do not exceed the combined amperage rating of the vehicle's tail light circuits when adding trailer lights. LED trailer lighting draws significantly less current and is strongly recommended.
  • Inspect the 4-pin flat connector for corrosion before each towing season. Apply dielectric grease to prevent moisture intrusion, especially in commercial or fleet use.
  • CURT 56020 is sold as a wiring harness only. Hitch receiver, ball mount, trailer ball, safety chains, and any 5-pin or 7-pin adapters are sold separately.
  • If your Econoline has aftermarket tail lights or a non-factory wiring harness, verify connector compatibility before purchase -- aftermarket lighting modifications may change the plug configuration.
