The most common installation is between the campground spigot and your pressure regulator -- inlet side of the hose. This placement lets you shut off city water supply at the source before disconnecting, avoiding the water hammer and hose whip that happens when you unscrew a pressurized line. It also protects your pressure regulator from repeated pressurization cycling when you need to briefly disconnect.
Thread the male GHT end onto any standard 3/4 in. garden hose thread spigot or female fitting by hand. Add a wrap of PTFE thread tape if your connection will be left unattended for extended periods. Connect your hose, pressure regulator, or filter to the female GHT outlet. Tighten hand-firm -- brass seats don't require wrenching to seal. Turn the handle to open or close flow.
