CURT / RVi RVibrake 4 Portable Flat Tow Vehicle Brake Control System (52202) - Made in USA

The RVibrake 4 is CURT’s latest portable, proportional braking system for flat-towed vehicles. It installs in minutes on the driver-side floorboard, auto-positions to the seat/pedal, and applies smooth braking based on real-time deceleration. It includes a dedicated breakaway circuit and the Bullseye wireless monitor for live status in the coach.

Made in USA (manufacturer listing)
Type
Portable, floor-mounted, proportional (inertia/accelerometer)
Reaction Time
~0.5 seconds (manufacturer spec)
Electrical
12V DC (toad), max draw ~3A

Dimensions & weight (always important for RVers)

  • Approx. unit weight: 9.85 lb (device only).
  • Listed package size: 22.88" L × 15.00" W × 6.13" H (retail package).
  • Typical ship weight: ~15 lb (varies by retailer).
  • Power: 12V accessory/cigarette outlet in the towed vehicle (fused).

Why choose RVibrake 4?

  • Proportional control: Brakes the toad in sync with the motorhome for confident, even stops.
  • Fast response: ~0.5s actuation for consistent braking.
  • Brake-lock detection: Protects against mis-installation and toad brake damage.
  • Wireless monitoring: Bullseye monitor shows live braking rings, faults, and settings in the coach.
  • Auto-positioning: Guided alignment to seat and pedal—quick, one-person setup.
  • Dedicated emergency breakaway: Full braking during a separation event.
  • Made in USA: Domestic build and support.

What’s in the box

  • RVibrake 4 main unit with pedal claw & seat-base interface
  • Breakaway switch & cable
  • 12V power cord (to toad outlet)
  • Bullseye wireless monitor (+ charger)
  • Range extender (per kit contents)
  • Owner’s manual & quick-start guide
  • Carry/storage case

Technical details

  • Control method: 3-axis accelerometer with slope-sensing software (prevents downhill oversensitivity).
  • Adjustments: Brake Type (Vacuum vs. Active), Brake Pressure (PSI), Sensitivity (Normal or Panic-Only).
  • Monitoring: Bullseye monitor shows braking rings proportional to push-force; still functions if monitor is off.
  • Electrical draw: Low at idle; peaks during brake events (max ~3A).
  • Coach systems: Works with gas or diesel motorhomes (hydraulic or air coach brakes). No coach tap-in required.
  • Toad brakes: Compatible with vacuum-assist and active-assist systems (configure in settings).

Compatibility & fit

  • Motorhomes: Gas or diesel (air or hydraulic).
  • Towed vehicles: Most flat-towable cars/SUVs/trucks per manufacturer guidance (check your owner’s manual).
  • 12V power: Requires an active 12V outlet while towing; add a towed-vehicle charge line if the outlet loses power or the battery tends to discharge on long days.

Basic installation & use

  1. Place unit on driver-side floorboard; secure against seat base.
  2. Attach claw to brake pedal; verify straight pushrod alignment.
  3. Plug into 12V outlet; follow audio prompts; press Auto Position when instructed.
  4. Mount breakaway switch on the toad; attach lanyard to the coach.
  5. Pair Bullseye monitor and set Brake Type, Pressure (PSI), and Sensitivity; perform a low-speed test pull and adjust.
Legal note: Many states/provinces require supplemental towed-vehicle braking and an independent breakaway. RVibrake 4 helps with compliance—verify laws for your route.

FAQs

Q: Will this drain my toad battery on long travel days?
A: Typical draw is low, but accessories and long days can drain batteries. Add a toad charge-line kit to keep voltage up.

Q: What if my vehicle has active (non-vacuum) brakes?
A: Choose the Active Brake Type and start around 5 PSI; fine-tune with the Brake Test procedure.

Q: Can I tow if the Bullseye monitor is off?
A: Yes—the unit still functions. The monitor provides visibility and lets you adjust settings from the coach.

Warranty & support

  • Limited lifetime warranty (1-year finish, 1-year parts) per manufacturer.
  • RVupgrades phone, chat, email, and text support if you need help selecting or setting up.

Recommended add-ons

  • Towed-Vehicle Battery Charge Line Kit
  • 12V Outlet Tester / Voltage Monitor
