Suburban Mfg High Pressure Propane 144" / 12 ft Suburban DCRLP-PT144HP High Pressure Propane Hose -- 144 Inches, 3/8" FPT x 3/8" Female Flare Swivel

A full 12 feet of high pressure propane hose engineered specifically to connect a propane supply tank to a two-stage regulator. Built with thermal protection and the correct end fittings to drop in without adapters on compatible Suburban-equipped rigs and appliance setups.

The Right Hose for Tank-to-Regulator Connections

Many RV propane systems rely on a high pressure section of hose running from the POL or ACME fitting at the tank outlet to the inlet of a two-stage regulator. This is a high pressure, liquid-phase or vapor-phase segment of the system -- it must be rated and built accordingly. The Suburban DCRLP-PT144HP is purpose-built for that role.

At 144 inches (12 feet), this hose gives you enough reach to route cleanly through a storage compartment, around a chassis rail, or across a larger propane bay without splicing or adding extra fittings. The 3/8" female pipe thread (FPT) end connects to threaded regulator inlets and manifold ports, while the 3/8" female flare swivel end mates to a standard male flare fitting at the tank valve or pigtail adapter.

1/4" ID High Pressure Construction

1/4-inch inside diameter hose rated for high pressure propane service -- designed for the tank-side, pre-regulator segment of the LP system.

3/8" FPT Inlet End

Female pipe thread connection on one end matches standard two-stage regulator inlets and inline manifold fittings common on RV propane systems.

3/8" Female Flare Swivel

The swivel fitting on the tank end allows the hose to be tightened without twisting the hose body -- important for leak-free seating on flare fittings.

Thermal Protection Included

Factory-installed thermal protection wrap guards the hose body against heat sources in tight compartment installations, a requirement in many coach builds.

End Fittings Explained

Getting the fittings right on a propane hose is critical -- a mismatched thread type is a leak waiting to happen. Here is exactly what you are working with on the DCRLP-PT144HP:

  • End 1 -- 3/8" FPT (Female Pipe Thread): This is a straight female thread, typically connecting to the male NPT outlet on a two-stage regulator body or a manifold fitting. Apply approved gas-rated thread sealant (not PTFE tape on flare seats) to the male counterpart before assembly.
  • End 2 -- 3/8" Female Flare Swivel: This connects to a 3/8" male flare fitting, typically found on a POL-to-flare adapter, an ACME-to-flare pigtail, or a bulk tank valve with a flare outlet. The swivel design lets you tighten the nut onto the flare seat without rotating the hose -- preventing kinks and body stress.
Full 12-Foot Reach -- 144 inches of hose eliminates the need for couplings or extensions in most slide-in, fifth-wheel, or motorhome propane bay configurations. Route cleanly from your exterior propane compartment to a dual-stage regulator without fighting hose length.

Typical Installation Scenarios

This hose is used in applications where the propane source and the regulator are not in close proximity -- common in larger coaches, custom builds, and situations where the regulator is mounted away from the tank compartment. Typical uses include:

  • Connecting a horizontal or vertical propane tank to an exterior-mounted two-stage regulator
  • Replacing a cracked, kinked, or age-degraded high pressure supply hose on an existing Suburban-specified system
  • Custom propane installations in cargo trailers, toy haulers, or van conversions where extra hose length is needed to reach the regulator
  • Extending tank-to-regulator reach in dual-tank systems with a switchover valve
Flare vs. Pipe Thread -- Know the Difference: The 3/8" female flare fitting on the tank end uses a 45-degree metal-to-metal seat -- do NOT use pipe dope or tape on the flare seat itself. The 3/8" FPT end on the regulator side is a pipe thread and does require gas-rated sealant on the male threads. Using the wrong sealant method on either end can cause leaks.

Inspection and Replacement Guidelines

Propane hoses should be inspected at least annually and replaced any time you observe:

  • Visible cracks, cuts, abrasion wear, or soft spots in the hose body
  • Discoloration or blistering from heat exposure
  • Corrosion or deformation at either end fitting
  • Any detectable propane odor at rest (system de-pressurized) near the hose or fittings
  • Hose age exceeding 10 years from date of manufacture (check stamp on hose body)
Maintenance Tip: After installation, perform a soap-bubble or electronic leak test at both end fittings before placing the propane system back in service. Test with the system pressurized and valves open. Do not use an open flame to check for leaks.
Thermal Protection Wrap: The factory thermal sleeve on this hose is not a substitute for proper routing away from exhaust components, catalytic converters, or other sustained heat sources. Always secure the hose with appropriate clamps or clips so it cannot chafe against metal edges.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • This is a HIGH PRESSURE propane hose intended for use UPSTREAM of a two-stage regulator only. Do not use in low-pressure (after-regulator) applications.
  • Installation must comply with NFPA 58 (Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code) and all applicable local codes. In many jurisdictions, propane system work must be performed or inspected by a certified LP gas technician.
  • Do NOT use PTFE tape or pipe dope on the female flare swivel seat. Use only on the FPT (pipe thread) end counterpart male threads with a gas-rated sealant.
  • Inspect hose routing after installation -- avoid sharp bends, contact with hot surfaces, and any routing that could allow abrasion against metal edges or moving components.
  • Always perform a leak test at all connections before returning the system to service.
  • Covered by a limited 90-day manufacturer warranty. Warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, misuse, or incompatible fittings.
  • Do not exceed the rated service conditions for this hose. This hose is not rated for liquid petroleum service in vehicle fuel systems.
