Cavagna UL/CGA Approved Thermofuse Safety Cavagna 50-A-190-0032 Acme Pigtail Hose -- 1/4" ID x 12"

This Cavagna propane pigtail hose is purpose-built for dual-cylinder RV setups. It connects propane cylinders to two-stage automatic changeover regulators or standard two-stage regulators with "T" check connections. With an integrated thermofuse and excess-flow protection, it adds a critical layer of safety to your LP system -- all in a compact 12-inch length that keeps your propane bay tidy.

Safe, Code-Compliant Propane Connection for Two-Cylinder RV Systems

Pigtail hoses are the working connection between your propane cylinders and your regulator. The Cavagna 50-A-190-0032 is not a generic hose -- it is designed specifically for dual-cylinder RV configurations where an automatic changeover or two-stage regulator with "T" check connections is used. One end features a standard Acme nut that threads onto a POL-style or Acme-threaded propane cylinder valve; the other end is a 1/4" male inverted flare that connects to the regulator inlet or "T" fitting.

At 12 inches, this is a short-run pigtail intended for installations where the cylinder is mounted close to the regulator -- typical of tongue-mounted dual-cylinder brackets on travel trailers, fifth wheels, and Class A motorhomes. The 1/4" inner diameter is the standard bore for RV propane pigtails at this length and flow demand.

Thermofuse Protection

A built-in thermofuse shuts off gas flow automatically if the hose temperature exceeds 240 deg F -- critical protection in the event of fire near the propane compartment.

Excess-Flow Shutoff

If the hose ruptures or is accidentally disconnected, gas flow is automatically limited, reducing the risk of uncontrolled LP release at the cylinder connection.

Acme Nut Fitting

The Acme nut end connects to standard propane cylinder valves used on most DOT cylinders found on RVs -- no tools required to connect or disconnect at the cylinder.

UL/CGA Approved

Meets UL and CGA safety standards for LP gas service. Required by many RV manufacturers and inspectors for compliant propane system installations.

Intended Application

This pigtail is designed for use with:

  • Two-stage automatic changeover regulators (such as those used in dual-cylinder "pigtail and regulator" kits)
  • Standard two-stage regulators that have "T" check connections accepting 1/4" inverted flare inlets
  • Any dual-cylinder RV propane system where a short, code-compliant cylinder-to-regulator connection is needed

Both pigtails in a dual-cylinder setup should be replaced as a pair. If one hose shows cracking, brittleness, or discoloration, replace both before the next trip.

5-Year Limited Manufacturer Warranty
Cavagna backs this pigtail hose with a 5-year limited manufacturer warranty -- longer than most competing pigtails on the market. Keep your purchase receipt as proof of purchase for warranty claims.

Installation Notes

Hand-tighten the Acme nut onto the cylinder valve first, then use a wrench to snug it -- Acme fittings do not require thread sealant or tape. The 1/4" male inverted flare end connects to your regulator "T" or inlet port; use two wrenches (one to hold the regulator fitting, one to tighten the hose nut) to avoid stressing the regulator body.

Leak-Check After Every Connection
Always perform a soap-and-water leak test at all fittings after installing or reconnecting propane hoses. Do not use an open flame to check for leaks. Inspect hoses visually at least once per season for cracking, abrasion, or UV degradation.
Replacement Interval Recommendation
The RV Industry Association (RVIA) and most LP system manufacturers recommend replacing propane pigtail hoses every 5 to 10 years regardless of visible condition. Check the hose's manufacture date stamp and replace proactively.

What Is in the Box

  • 1x Cavagna 50-A-190-0032 Acme pigtail hose, 12" length

Note: Regulator, cylinder, and any additional fittings are not included. If replacing both pigtails in a dual-cylinder system, order two units.

Maintenance Tip
Store spare pigtails away from direct sunlight and ozone sources (motors, generators). UV and ozone degrade rubber hose compounds over time even when the hose is not in use. A sealed plastic bag in a cool, dark compartment is ideal for long-term storage.

Important Information
  • For use with LP (propane) gas only. Not rated for natural gas or other fuel gases.
  • Always perform a soap-and-water leak test after installation. Never use an open flame to check for leaks.
  • The thermofuse is a one-time thermal shutoff -- if it has activated (hose exposed to fire or extreme heat), replace the hose immediately. Do not attempt to reset or reuse a hose that has triggered the thermofuse.
  • Do not use this hose in applications requiring a length greater than 12 inches -- use the correct-length hose to avoid stress on fittings.
  • Inspect hose for cracks, hardening, or abrasion before each use. Replace any hose showing signs of degradation.
  • Installation must comply with NFPA 58 (LP-Gas Code) and all applicable local codes. In some jurisdictions, LP system work must be performed by a licensed technician.
