The Mach 3 Plus is one of Coleman's most proven rooftop AC units, engineered specifically for RV use. With 13,500 nominal BTUs, 320 CFM airflow, all-copper refrigerant tubing, and gas-flux brazed joints, it delivers dependable cooling performance across a wide range of Class A, B, and C motorhomes and travel trailers -- without the bulk or weight of larger commercial units.
RV rooftop air conditioners take a beating -- vibration, UV exposure, road debris, and constant thermal cycling. The Coleman Mach 3 Plus addresses each of those challenges directly. The condenser and evaporator coils use raised lance fins, a design that increases surface area contact with airflow to maximize heat dissipation without requiring a larger footprint. All refrigerant lines are all-copper, and every joint is gas-flux brazed rather than mechanically crimped, which significantly reduces the chance of refrigerant leaks over time.
At 13,500 nominal BTUs and 320 CFM, this unit is well matched for RVs in the 24 to 32-foot range under typical conditions. It mounts to a standard 14 x 14-inch roof opening and is designed to pair with a compatible Coleman Mach ceiling assembly (control box/air distribution box, sold separately).
Nominal cooling capacity sized for mid-length RVs. Handles typical summer camping loads efficiently.
High-volume fan moves conditioned air through the ceiling assembly quickly for even cabin distribution.
Copper tubing with gas-flux brazed joints resists vibration fatigue and reduces leak risk over time.
Larger coil surface area improves heat transfer efficiency on both the evaporator and condenser sides.
The raised lance-fin coil geometry found in the Mach 3 Plus increases the effective heat-exchange surface compared to flat-fin designs. This allows the unit to reach and maintain set temperature faster, especially during hot afternoon arrivals at a campsite when the RV interior has been baking in the sun.
This listing is for the rooftop condensing/evaporator unit only. The Mach 3 Plus rooftop unit requires a separately purchased Coleman Mach ceiling assembly (also called an air distribution box or control box) to function as a complete system. The ceiling assembly handles the return-air grille, fan speed control, and thermostat interface. Do not attempt to operate the rooftop unit without a properly matched ceiling assembly installed inside the coach.
The Mach 3 Plus rooftop unit is designed to pair with Coleman Mach ceiling assemblies in the 9330 and 9430 series (single-zone manual and digital control). It is also compatible with the Coleman Mach Zone Control system when used with appropriate zone-control ceiling assemblies. Confirm the ceiling assembly model matches your roof unit before ordering.
The Mach 3 Plus operates on 115V AC, 60 Hz single-phase power -- standard North American shore power or generator output. The unit draws approximately 13.5 amps running current (LRA/startup amperage is higher; see specs). A dedicated 15-amp circuit is the minimum; a 20-amp circuit is preferred for reliable compressor starts, especially in hot weather or at elevation.
The compressor in a 13,500 BTU unit draws a significantly higher locked-rotor amperage (LRA) at startup than its running amperage. If using a generator, size it for at least 3,000 running watts (with 3,500+ surge watts available). Undersized generators will struggle to start the compressor, causing voltage sag that can shorten compressor life or trip breakers.
The Mach 3 Plus mounts to a standard 14 x 14-inch roof opening -- the most common RV AC cutout size. Installation requires removing the old unit (if present), cleaning the roof surface, placing the foam gasket around the opening, setting the new unit in place, and securing it from inside with four mounting bolts. The ceiling assembly then connects via the four wiring leads and the central plenum opening.
