VersaHaul VH-TRAY Heavy Duty Steel Cargo Tray

500 lb capacity cargo tray with 58" x 25" x 5.5" dimensions. Class III/IV hitch. Integrated receiver for light towing (3,000 lb max). Anti-tilt bracket. Made in USA.

Product Overview

The VersaHaul VH-TRAY is a heavy-duty steel cargo tray designed to transport cargo that won't fit inside your vehicle. With a generous 58" x 25" x 5.5" tray and 500 lb carrying capacity, this hitch-mounted cargo carrier provides ample space for luggage, camping gear, sports equipment, toolboxes, and other bulky items. The raised 5.5" sides help contain cargo and prevent items from sliding off during transport.

Constructed from heavy-duty 14-gauge steel with a corrosion-resistant powder coat finish, the VH-TRAY is built for durability and long-term use. The cargo tray includes VersaHaul's patented anti-tilt lock bracket to eliminate wobble, a 30" main tube for optimal weight distribution, and an integrated Class III receiver at the carrier end for light-duty towing capability (3,000 lbs maximum). The VH-TRAY is proudly made in the USA and designed to fit any Class III or IV hitch.

⚠ Important Spare Tire Clearance Warning

BEFORE PURCHASING - CRITICAL CLEARANCE CHECK:

The spare tire on some vehicles (particularly SUVs and trucks with rear-mounted spare tires) may prevent the VH-TRAY from being properly attached or may interfere with the tray's position. This is especially common on vehicles with:

• Rear-mounted spare tires (underneath rear bumper)
• Full-size spare tires mounted low on the vehicle underside
• Spare tire carriers that extend below the hitch receiver

ACTION REQUIRED:
Review the VH-TRAY dimensions diagram (available in product specifications) and measure your vehicle's spare tire location and clearance BEFORE purchasing. If your spare tire is mounted in a location that conflicts with the cargo tray, you may need to:
• Relocate or remove the spare tire when using the cargo tray
• Consider alternative cargo solutions

DO NOT PURCHASE if you cannot verify adequate clearance between your spare tire and the cargo tray position.

🔧 Installation, Loading & Safety Information

Pre-Installation Requirements:
1. Verify you have a Class III or IV hitch with 2" receiver
2. Check vehicle tongue weight rating (must handle 565 lbs minimum)
3. Verify spare tire clearance if your vehicle has rear-mounted spare
4. Review complete VH-TRAY instruction booklet

Installation Overview:
Insert the 30" main tube into your vehicle's 2" hitch receiver. Secure with hitch pin. Install anti-tilt lock bracket per instructions to eliminate wobble. The cargo tray should sit level behind your vehicle with adequate ground clearance. Attach reflectors for visibility.

Loading Cargo:
• Maximum capacity: 500 lbs
• Distribute weight evenly across tray surface
• Place heavier items toward the center and closer to vehicle
• Secure all cargo with tie-down straps or bungee cords
• Use cargo nets for smaller items
• Never exceed 500 lb maximum capacity
• Check that cargo doesn't obstruct vehicle tail lights or license plate

Driving with Loaded Cargo Tray:
• Accelerate gradually - cargo tray extends behind vehicle
• Brake earlier - increased weight affects stopping distance
• Take wider turns - extended length considerations
• Watch ground clearance - avoid steep driveways or obstacles
• Monitor cargo - check that items remain secured
• Drive conservatively - high speeds can cause cargo to shift

Using Integrated Tow Receiver (Light-Duty Only):
The VH-TRAY has a Class III receiver at the end for light-duty towing up to 3,000 lbs maximum. This is suitable for small utility trailers, lightweight boat trailers, or compact cargo trailers. DO NOT exceed 3,000 lbs. Calculate total tongue weight: carrier (65 lbs) + cargo + trailer tongue weight. Ensure this total is within your vehicle's tongue weight rating.

Important Safety Notes:
• DO NOT exceed 500 lbs cargo capacity
• DO NOT exceed 3,000 lbs towing capacity
• DO NOT use if spare tire interferes with tray
• Always secure cargo with straps or nets
• Check hitch pin and anti-tilt bracket tightness before each use
• Verify adequate ground clearance with loaded tray
• Remove tray when not in use to improve fuel economy and reduce rear overhang
