Stop wrestling with a manual crank every time you hitch up. The Lippert 285318 electric tongue jack lets you raise and lower your A-frame trailer with two toggle switches and a push of your thumb -- all powered by your rig's 12-volt system. Built from heavy-gauge steel with a black powder coat finish, helical-cut gears, and four built-in LED work lights, this is a serious bolt-on upgrade over any stock manual jack.

Push-Button Tongue Control for A-Frame Trailers

The Lippert 285318 is purpose-built for A-frame trailer tongues. Mounting is a straightforward bolt-on process -- no welding, no fabricating brackets. Once wired to a 12-volt source, two front-mounted toggle switches handle all up and down operation. A third switch independently controls the four integrated LED lights, which angle downward toward the coupler so you can see exactly what you're doing during low-light hookups.

Inside the housing, helical-cut gears do the heavy lifting quietly and efficiently. Compared to straight-cut gears, helical geometry means smoother engagement, less noise under load, and longer service life. The textured, heavy-gauge steel housing resists chips and cracks from road debris -- a real advantage for a component that hangs low and takes abuse every time you tow.

3500 lb Lift Capacity

Rated for up to 3,500 lbs of tongue weight, handling most standard A-frame travel trailers and utility trailers with confidence.

18" of Travel

Full 18-inch lift stroke -- retracts to 10-3/4" and extends to 28-3/4" -- giving you enough range for most hitch-height differences on uneven ground.

Helical Gear Drive

Helical-cut gears run quieter and more efficiently than straight-cut designs, reducing motor strain and wear during repeated raises and lowers.

4 Integrated LED Lights

Four LED lights mounted in the housing project downward toward the coupler, illuminating your connection point during night or low-light hookups.

Easy Bolt-On Installation

The 285318 mounts directly to standard A-frame tongue rails using the included hardware and pins. No welding or custom fabrication required. Route the wiring to any 12V source rated for 30 amps -- the factory harness, a dedicated circuit, or your battery -- and you're operational.

Powering the Jack

This jack draws up to 30 amps at 12 volts under load. Use an appropriately rated wire gauge for your run length (typically 10 AWG or heavier for runs over 6 feet) and protect the circuit with an inline fuse or breaker rated at 30 amps. The jack should be connected to a source that remains live when the tow vehicle is parked -- most owners tap directly to the trailer battery or use a dedicated circuit from the vehicle's fuse panel.

Manual Override Included

If power is lost or the motor fails in the field, the included emergency manual crank handle lets you operate the jack by hand. Store the crank where you can reach it -- not buried in a storage bay behind gear. This is your insurance policy for roadside situations.

Maintenance Tips
  • Inspect the inner and outer tubes periodically for corrosion, especially after driving in wet or salty conditions.
  • Apply a light coat of white lithium grease or dry PTFE lubricant to the screw mechanism every season to keep operation smooth.
  • Check mounting hardware torque annually -- vibration from towing can loosen fasteners over time.
  • Keep the LED lens area clear of mud and road film for maximum visibility.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • Maximum lift capacity is 3,500 lbs. Do not use this jack to lift loads beyond its rating -- overloading can cause jack failure and trailer damage or injury.
  • This jack requires a 12V DC power source capable of supplying up to 30 amps. Undersized wiring or fuses can cause overheating and electrical damage.
  • Always engage wheel chocks and ensure the trailer is on stable, level ground before operating the jack.
  • Do not use this jack as a vehicle lift or to support weight while personnel are working underneath.
  • Store the emergency manual crank handle in an accessible location -- not buried in the trailer -- in case of power failure in the field.
  • Inspect mounting hardware torque regularly. Road vibration can loosen bolts over time.
  • This jack is designed for A-frame tongue mounting. Verify your tongue rail dimensions and mounting pattern before ordering.
