Lippert2.5" x 2.5" OutboardGear Rack InstalledLippert 143707 Inner Slide-Out Arm Outboard -- 2.5 x 2.5 Tubing, 72 Inch

A direct OEM-grade replacement inner slide-out arm for Lippert rack-and-pinion slide systems. This outboard arm ships with the gear rack already installed and a durable black powder coat finish applied, so you spend less time on prep and more time getting your rig back on the road.

Keep Your Slide Running Smooth -- The Right Arm Makes All the Difference

Lippert's rack-and-pinion slide-out system is one of the most common mechanisms found across travel trailers, fifth wheels, and Class A motorhomes. When the inner arm bends, cracks, or loses its gear rack engagement, the entire slide becomes unreliable -- or won't move at all. Replacing with the correct factory-spec arm restores proper alignment, full extension, and the load-bearing capacity the system was designed around.

Part number 143707 is specifically the outboard inner arm in the 2.5 x 2.5 inch square tubing size, corresponding to Lippert figures 8.1 and 8.2 in their slide-out arm reference diagrams. At 72 inches in length, this arm fits a wide range of mid- to full-size slide-out rooms. Always verify your existing arm length and tube cross-section before ordering.

Gear Rack Pre-Installed

Rack comes mounted and aligned from the factory -- no separate rack purchase or time-consuming installation required.

Black Powder Coat Finish

Corrosion-resistant finish holds up to road grime, moisture, and the repetitive motion stress of regular slide cycling.

OEM Lippert Fitment

Manufactured to the same specification as the original arm installed at the factory, ensuring proper mesh with existing pinion gears and guides.

2.5 x 2.5 Square Tubing

Heavy-duty square steel construction maintains rigidity under slide room load -- critical for rooms carrying furniture, appliances, or flooring weight.

What Is the Outboard Inner Arm?

In a Lippert rack-and-pinion slide system, the slide room rides on a pair of arms -- an inboard arm (closest to the coach interior) and an outboard arm (positioned toward the exterior wall). Each arm has an inner tube that slides within an outer tube, extending and retracting as the motor drives the pinion gear along the rack. The inner outboard arm (this part) is the telescoping inner section on the exterior side of the slide room.

Replacing only the damaged inner arm -- rather than the full assembly -- is the correct approach when the outer tube and mounting hardware are still in serviceable condition.

Gear Rack Included: Unlike some replacement arm tubes sold as bare extrusions, this Lippert 143707 ships with the gear rack already attached. You do not need to source or transfer a separate rack.

Typical Applications

This arm is used on Lippert rack-and-pinion slide-out systems installed across many RV brands that source components from Lippert (formerly Lippert Components / LCI). Common applications include:

  • Travel trailers and fifth wheels with electrically-operated full-wall or partial slide rooms
  • Class A gas and diesel motorhomes using Lippert slide mechanisms
  • Rigs built on Lippert-supplied chassis where the 2.5 x 2.5 arm profile was specified
Verify Your Arm Size: Lippert uses multiple arm tube sizes (including 2.0 x 2.0 and 3.0 x 3.0 profiles) depending on slide room size and load rating. Measure the cross-section of your existing inner arm -- it must be 2.5 inches x 2.5 inches to use this replacement. The length of your existing arm must also be 72 inches.

Installation Notes

Swapping an inner slide-out arm is a moderately involved procedure. The slide room typically must be in the extended position for access, and the arm must be properly aligned with the pinion gear before the system is cycled. A second person or a slide room support stand is strongly recommended during the swap to prevent the room from shifting unexpectedly.

Maintenance Tip: After installing the replacement arm, lubricate the gear rack and all sliding contact surfaces with a dry PTFE or lithium-based lubricant before cycling the slide. Inspect the outer arm tube for wear or deformation before reinstalling -- a damaged outer tube will accelerate wear on the new inner arm.
Also Consider: If your slide system shows signs of uneven travel or the room tilts during extension, inspect both the inboard and outboard inner arms together. Replacing only the obviously damaged arm while leaving a worn partner arm can result in uneven load distribution and repeat failures.

Important Information
  • This is the inner outboard arm only -- the outer arm tube, motor, pinion gear, and mounting brackets are NOT included.
  • Confirm your existing arm measures 2.5 in. x 2.5 in. cross-section and 72 in. length before ordering. Using the wrong size arm risks slide room misalignment and system damage.
  • Do NOT cycle the slide with a loose or improperly seated inner arm -- doing so can damage the pinion gear, outer tube, or slide room frame.
  • If your outer tube is bent, cracked, or severely worn, replace it at the same time; installing a new inner arm in a damaged outer tube is a temporary repair at best.
  • This part is designed for Lippert rack-and-pinion slide systems. It is not compatible with cable-driven, hydraulic, or schwintek in-wall slide mechanisms.
