CamcoPart 36153Made in USACamco Brass Blow-Out Plug with Schrader Valve -- RV Winterization Essential

The fastest, simplest way to clear your RV fresh water lines before winter storage. Camco's lead-free brass blow-out plug threads into your city water inlet and accepts a standard Schrader valve fitting, so any shop or portable air compressor can purge every drop of water from your plumbing system in minutes.

Clear Your Lines Right the First Time

Frozen water lines are one of the most costly RV repair bills a winter-storage mistake can cause. The Camco 36153 blow-out plug puts compressed air exactly where it needs to go -- at the city water inlet -- so air pressure travels through the entire fresh water system and pushes standing water out through your faucets, showerhead, and low-point drains.

The plug body is solid brass, making it durable enough for repeated seasonal use. The built-in Schrader valve stem is the same standard fitting used on automotive and bicycle tires, which means virtually any air compressor with a standard inflator chuck will connect without adapters.

Standard Schrader Valve

Same fitting found on car and bike tires. Works with any air compressor inflator chuck -- no special adapter needed.

Solid Brass Construction

Corrosion-resistant lead-free brass body threads in firmly and holds a seal under air pressure without cracking or deforming.

City Water Inlet Thread Fit

Sized to thread directly into the standard 3/4-inch GHT (garden hose thread) city water inlet found on most RVs, motorhomes, and campers.

Made in USA

Manufactured domestically. Lead-free construction meets current safe-drinking-water material standards.

How to Use This Plug

The blow-out plug is the first tool you reach for at the start of the winterization process -- before adding antifreeze. Use it to remove the bulk of standing water so you use less antifreeze and the antifreeze you do add reaches all the right places.

  • Remove the city water inlet cap and thread the blow-out plug in by hand until snug.
  • Make sure all faucets are closed before connecting air.
  • Connect your air compressor inflator chuck to the Schrader valve.
  • Open faucets one at a time -- hot and cold -- starting at the fixture closest to the water heater, working toward the farthest point.
  • Keep compressor pressure at or below 50 PSI to avoid damaging lines, fittings, or the water pump.
  • Run until only air and mist exit each fixture, then close and move to the next.
  • Repeat for the toilet, outdoor shower, and ice maker line if equipped.
Tip: Bypass the water heater first. Install your water heater bypass kit before blowing out lines to avoid pushing water back into the tank and to speed up the purge process. The blow-out plug is most effective on a bypassed system.
Works with both 12V pump systems and city water connections. Because this plug enters at the city water inlet, air travels the same path city water normally would -- through the pressure regulator port and into the distribution lines -- making it effective regardless of your pump setup.
Recommended pressure: 30-50 PSI maximum. Most RV PEX and flexible water lines are rated for higher pressures under normal use, but fittings, valves, and the water pump diaphragm can be damaged by sustained high-pressure air blasts. Keep your compressor regulated at or below 50 PSI during blow-out.
Seasonal storage tip: After blowing out lines, store the plug in your winterization kit alongside your water heater bypass valve, antifreeze hand pump, and low-point drain key so it is ready to go next fall without searching the storage bays.

Important Information
  • Do not exceed 50 PSI when blowing out water lines. Excessive pressure can rupture fittings, damage pump diaphragms, or split PVC/PEX connections.
  • This plug is for use at the city water inlet only -- do not attempt to connect to the water pump outlet or any pressurized water line under system pressure.
  • Always bypass the water heater before blowing out lines to prevent damage to the tank and heating element.
  • This plug purges standing water but does not guarantee complete freeze protection on its own. Follow blow-out with RV-rated non-toxic antifreeze for complete winterization in climates that reach freezing temperatures.
  • Lead-free brass is safe for fresh water contact but this plug is intended for seasonal, non-potable-pressure use during winterization -- not as a permanent city water fitting.
