There are a number of different things to consider when towing a trailer, two examples being weight distribution and sway control. Weight distribution allows the towing vehicle and the trailer to stay level. Without the proper weight distribution, the pressure exerted on the coupling and vehicles can make for some very uneven driving. This can cause control issues during travel, especially when turning or braking, and may cause damage to your vehicle's suspension. Sway control keeps the trailer from fishtailing around while on the road. Strong winds or passing vehicles can make a trailer susceptible to movement, which can be a safety hazard not only to yourself, but to others sharing the road with you. Equal-i-zer has a sway control hitch system that is combined with weight distribution to solve these problems.

Equal-i-zer's sway control hitch works with almost any trailer and uses 4 points of friction to keep the trailer's movement in control and level. Two points of rotational friction, caused by the downward pressure of the trailer tongue as well as the upward pressure of the spring arms, work to even out the weight and keep the trailer from moving around. Two other points of linear friction are located at the points where the spring arms connect with the sway control brackets, to provide even more control. The bracket is also made to assist with the rotational friction points. The friction points are all steel on steel, providing a durable weight distribution and sway control system.

Remember to keep in mind the weight of your trailer and tow vehicle, including whatever may be stored inside. Make sure that the weight does not exceed the maximum capabilities of the trailer or tow vehicle. Too much or too little weight, when compared to the rating of the hitch, can make the sway control hitch less effective.
