Easy Fit for Most RVs The Drain Master electric waste valve is designed to fit most RVs with minimal space requirements. While it is slightly larger than a manual valve due to the motor, the difference is minor. The manual valve measures 9-5/8" wide, 4-1/2" high, and 3/4" deep, while the Drain Master measures 10" wide, 6" high, and 1-3/4" deep. If installing on a 1-1/2" pipe, a separate reducer kit will be required to accommodate the setup. Leak-Free Seal with Smart Design During installation, some users may notice small gaps at the top and bottom of the gate when closed. These gaps are an intentional part of the design and do not cause leaks. The valve seals against the gate using round lip seals, ensuring a secure closure. These gaps allow the Drain Master to be interchangeable with standard 3” manual gate valves, which also feature similar spacing. Additionally, the graphite-impregnated rubber seals on both sides of the gate make the valve bi-directional, providing more flexibility for installation. Quick and Simple Installation Installing the Drain Master is a straightforward process that typically takes about an hour. Those with basic mechanical skills can complete the installation themselves, while professional installation at an RV dealership or repair shop usually requires about an hour of labor. Valve Cleaning and Maintenance The frequency of valve cleaning depends on factors such as usage, tank maintenance, and installation position. If the Drain Master is installed in an optimal position—between 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock over the piping with minimal stress—it may require little to no maintenance, especially for seasonal RV users. However, if the valve is installed in a hard-to-reach location or positioned on the side of the drain pipe, more frequent maintenance may be necessary. Full-time RVers should consider including valve cleaning as part of their annual maintenance routine to ensure long-term performance and reliability.
